“I-Aesthetics” e “paradigma dello specchio”. Riflessione sull’estetica dell’architettura contemporanea

open access: yesRivista di Estetica, 2016
The magnificent brilliance of the majority of the contemporary buildings can be depicted through the image of a mirror that reflects its surroundings, avoiding any relationship between the interior and the exterior. This introduces an articulated as well

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Simulations of idealised 3D atmospheric flows on terrestrial planets using LFRic-Atmosphere

open access: yes, 2023
We demonstrate that LFRic-Atmosphere, a model built using the Met Office’s GungHo dynamical core, is able to reproduce idealised large-scale atmospheric circulation patterns specified by several widely-used benchmark recipes.

Identification of functional murine mitochondrial formyl peptides and their effects on myeloid‐derived suppressor cell generation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We first identified functional murine mitochondrial N‐formyl peptides (MT‐FPs) and investigated their effects on the in vitro myeloid‐derived suppressor cell (MDSC) generation from bone marrow cells. We demonstrated that MT‐FPs acted directly on bone marrow cells to promote MDSC generation and modulated the polymorphonuclear (PMN)‐MDSC/monocyte (M ...

Atmosphere-Controlled Palladium-Catalyzed Divergent Decarboxylative Cyclization of 2Iodobiphenyls and Oxocarboxylic Acids

open access: yes, 2021
A novel palladium-catalyzed divergent decarboxylative cyclization of 2-iodobiphenyls and α-oxocarboxylic acids utilizing the atmosphere as a controlled switch is reported. Under the protection of a nitrogen atmosphere, tribenzotropones are synthesized by

Suppression of lung adenocarcinoma migration through organelle alkalization by human lactoferrin – albumin fusion

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This paper reveals how human lactoferrin–albumin fusion (hLF‐HSA) potently suppresses lung adenocarcinoma cell migration. hLF‐HSA upregulates NHE7, leading to Golgi alkalization, disruption of the Golgi secretome, downregulation of MMP1, and reversal of EMT. These findings suggest a novel Golgi‐targeting strategy to suppress cancer cell migration.

Physically Based Rendering of the Martian Atmosphere

open access: yes, 2013
With the introduction of complex precomputed scattering tables by Bruneton in 2008, the quality of visualizing atmospheric scattering vastly improved. The presented algorithms allowed for the rendering of complex atmospheric features such as multiple ...
