Variant‐Specific Landscape of Mutual Exclusivity Among BRAF, EGFR, and KRAS Oncogenes Reveals Overlap With Functionally Antagonistic Mutant Pairs

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
Mutual exclusivity and co‐occurrence of oncogenic mutations reflect functional antagonism or dependence and may inform therapeutic strategies. However, most studies overlook variant‐level patterns. In this comprehensive, cross‐cohort analysis of BRAF, KRAS, and EGFR mutation subtypes, the most significant mutual exclusivity pairs overlapped with ...

Bio‐inspired nanophotonics: Structural color, chirality, and resonance metasurfaces

open access: yesInfoMat, EarlyView.
A butterfly‐wing‐inspired anisotropic plasmonic flatband resonant metasurface. Insets, photo of the butterfly, Sasakia charonda, and the SEM image of its wing scale (above); the SEM image of the metasurface (below). Abstract The dazzling colors of butterfly wings and hummingbird feathers are not painted with pigments, but crafted by nature's invisible ...

Macrophage extracellular vesicles deliver Mef2d proteins to aggravate Bacteroides fragilis pathogenicity in type 2 diabetes arterial calcification

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Bacteroides fragilis is associated with type 2 diabetes (T2D) arterial calcification and can be activated by macrophage‐derived extracellular vesicles (EVs). BF takes up EVs via receptor‐mediated endocytosis, and activation is induced by EV‐derived Mef2d, thereby inhibiting ArsR family transcriptional regulator transcription.

A Note on the Distribution of Atmospherically Ducted Signal Power Near the Earth's Surface [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Communications, 1982
Interference fields caused by low-level atmospheric ducts are of concern at UHF frequencies and above. This note develops a long-term median distribution of received signal power during ducting conditions from observations taken on a 175 km, 5 GHz path in New Jersey in 1966.

Drought Risk in Mango and Avocado Orchards: Insights Into Plant Water Relations and Irrigation‐Related Agronomic Solutions

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Climate change is making water availability more uncertain, with growing consequences for the productivity and long‐term sustainability of tropical and subtropical fruit orchards. Mangifera indica L. and Persea americana Mill. both require large amounts of water to sustain growth and productivity.
