Atomic Floquet physics revealed by free electrons

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2022
We theoretically investigate the ability of free electrons to yield information on the nonlinear Floquet dynamics of atomic systems subject to intense external illumination.

Quantum Chemistry, Anomalous Dimensions, and the Breakdown of Fermi Liquid Theory in Strongly Correlated Systems

open access: yes, 1993
We formulate a local picture of strongly correlated systems as a Feynman sum over atomic configurations. The hopping amplitudes between these atomic configurations are identified as the renormalization group charges, which describe the local physics at ...

Atomic interaction effects in the superradiant light scattering from a Bose-Einstein condensate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We investigate the effects of the atomic interaction in the Superradiant Rayleigh scattering from a Bose-Einstein condensate driven by a far-detuned laser beam.

Rad27/FEN1 prevents accumulation of Okazaki fragments and ribosomal DNA copy number changes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The budding yeast Rad27 is a structure‐specific endonuclease. Here, the authors reveal that Rad27 is crucial for maintaining the stability of the ribosomal RNA gene (rDNA) region. Rad27 deficiency leads to the accumulation of Okazaki fragments and changes in rDNA copy number.

Symmetric ground states for a stationary relativistic mean-field model for nucleons in the nonrelativistic limit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper we consider a model for a nucleon interacting with the $\omega$ and $\sigma$ mesons in the atomic nucleus. The model is relativistic, but we study it in the nuclear physics nonrelativistic limit, which is of a very different nature from the

Ultracold atomic gases in optical lattices: mimicking condensed matter physics and beyond [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We review recent developments in the physics of ultracold atomic and molecular gases in optical lattices. Such systems are nearly perfect realisations of various kinds of Hubbard models, and as such may very well serve to mimic condensed matter phenomena.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Design and development of DC to DC voltage booster to integrate with PbTe/TAGS-85 based thermoelectric power generators

open access: yesMaterials Science for Energy Technologies, 2019
Thermoelectric power generators (TEGs) based on Seebeck effect convert waste heat into electricity. However, the practical applications of such TEGs are limited by their low output DC voltage (10–300 mV).

Searching for New Physics Through AMO Precision Measurements

open access: yes, 2012
We briefly review recent experiments in atomic, molecular, and optical physics using precision measurements to search for physics beyond the Standard Model.

Localization of high-energy electron scattering from atomic vibrations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Electrons with kinetic energies of the order 100 keV are capable of exciting atomic vibrational states from a distance of microns. Despite such a large interaction distance, our detailed calculations show that the scattering physics permits a high-energy
