Entanglement of Two Atoms using Rydberg Blockade [PDF]
Over the past few years we have built an apparatus to demonstrate the entanglement of neutral Rb atoms at optically resolvable distances using the strong interactions between Rydberg atoms. Here we review the basic physics involved in this process: loading of single atoms into individual traps, state initialization, state readout, single atom rotations,

Stimulated Enhancement of Cross-Section by a Bose-Einstein Condensate [PDF]
This paper examines the feasibility of constructing an experiment which detects the atomic stimulation of a photon emission process. A beam of atoms (bosons) in an excited state is passed over an atomic trap which traps the atoms when they are in their internal ground state.

Quantum Many-Body Phenomena in Coupled Cavity Arrays
The increasing level of experimental control over atomic and optical systems gained in the past years have paved the way for the exploration of new physical regimes in quantum optics and atomic physics, characterised by the appearance of quantum many ...

A simple scaling law between the total energy of a free atom and its atomic number [PDF]
A simple, approximate relation is found between the total energy of a free atom and its atomic number: E ~= -Z^{2.411}. The existence of this index is inherent in the Coulomb and many-body nature of the electron-electron interaction in the atomic system and cannot be fabricated from the existing fundamental physical constants.

Meson and Quark Degrees of Freedom and the Radius of the Deuteron [PDF]
The existing experimental data for the deuteron charge radius are discussed. The data of elastic electron scattering are inconsistent with the value obtained in a recent atomic physics experiment.

Evolution of water dynamics in the Prussian blue
Crystal water plays a crucial role towards the multifunctional properties of Prussian blue and its analogue (PBA) compounds. We have investigated the dynamics of crystal water in Prussian blue (PB), Fe(III)4[Fe(II)(CN)6]3.

On the origin of the gravitational quantization: The Titius--Bode Law
Action at distance in Newtonian physics is replaced by finite propagation speeds in classical post--Newtonian physics. As a result, the differential equations of motion in Newtonian physics are replaced by functional differential equations, where the ...

Resonantly enhanced photoionization in correlated three-atomic systems [PDF]
Modifications of photoionization arising from resonant electron-electron correlations between neighbouring atoms in an atomic sample are studied. The sample contains atomic species A and B, with the ionization potential of A being smaller than the energy of a dipole-allowed transition in B.
