We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Hydrogen photoionization in a magnetized medium: The rigid-wavefunction approach revisited
Realistic modeling of stellar spectra requires accurate radiative opacity coefficients. Owing to the fragmentary nature of existing data from rigorous quantum-mechanical calculations, photoionization coefficients based on the rigid-wavefunction ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

We report the results of a simultaneous X-ray and optical spectroscopy campaign on the Galactic black hole X-ray binary (BH XRB) V4641 Sgr, carried out with XRISM and the Seimei telescope during a low-luminosity phase toward the end of its 2024 outburst.

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Dissociative ionization cross-sections and the rate coefficients of H2S, OCS, LiH, and SiC
Context. Electron-molecule and positron-molecule interactions play a major role in the interstellar medium. Although several inelastic channels have been studied in the literature, dissociative ionization studies of molecules are scarce. Aims.

Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Radiative accelerations of nickel from new monochromatic opacities
Context. Radiative accelerations express the transfer of momentum from the radiation field to the various chemical species of the stellar medium. They are evaluated from the monochromatic cross-sections of each element given the local thermodynamical ...

Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches.
