Dispensing of actionable pharmacogenetic drugs among adults receiving cardiovascular disease medications in the Northern Netherlands: A serial cross‐sectional study

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
The extent of pharmacogenetic (PGx) drug dispensing among Dutch adults receiving medications for cardiovascular disease (CVD) is unknown. Using the University of Groningen IADB.nl pharmacy database, we performed a serial cross‐sectional study (2019–2023) to estimate the annual prevalence of PGx drug dispensing and annual rates of initiation.

Torcetrapib does not reduce atherosclerosis beyond atorvastatin and induces more proinflammatory lesions than atorvastatin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
BACKGROUND - Although cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) inhibition is regarded as a promising strategy to reduce atherosclerosis by increasing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, the CETP inhibitor torcetrapib given in addition to atorvastatin ...

Solid dispersions of atorvastatin with Kolliphor RH40: enhanced supersaturation and improvement in a hyperlipidemic rat model

open access: yes, 2023
Atorvastatin is a potent lipid-lowering drug with poor solubility and high presystemic clearance that limits its therapeutic efficacy. The aim of this study was to develop solid dispersions and micellar systems to obtain fastdissolving atorvastatin ...

Mechanistic Dichotomy in Enantioselective Pd‐Catalyzed Alkylation of Pyrroles With Diazoesters

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Ligand‐controlled mechanistic divergence controls the Pd‐catalyzed asymmetric alkylation of pyrroles with diazoesters. While bipyridine ligands promote a conventional metal‐carbene pathway, bipyridine‐N,N′‐dioxide ligands redirect catalysis through electrophilic CH metalation before carbene transfer.

Clinical Translation of Patient‐Derived Organoids: Perspectives for Personalized Therapy in Cancer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Patient‐derived organoids (PDO) are accelerating precision medicine. These biological platforms allow for the autologous in vitro expansion of material from cancer patients in a considerably short period of time. These three‐dimensional models can faithfully recapitulate aspects of tissue heterogeneity, architecture, and relevant cellular ...

Bile acid metabolism and signaling in human and animal health: A One Health perspective

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
Bile acids maintain host homeostasis through enterohepatic circulation, microbial transformation, and bile acid receptor signaling, thereby regulating glucose and lipid metabolism, intestinal barrier integrity, and immunity. These effects support human disease intervention and health‐oriented animal production, reducing drug dependence and residue ...

Percutaneous Closure of Patent Foramen Ovale in a Patient With Incomplete Cor Triatriatum Sinister: A Case Report

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, EarlyView.
We present the case of a 55‐year‐old male who experienced a cryptogenic ischemic stroke, likely due to a patent foramen ovale (PFO) in the setting of an incomplete cor triatriatum sinister (CTS) and a 30 mm GORE Cardioform Septal Occluder was successfully implanted.

Atorvastatin Induces Thrombomodulin Expression in the Aorta of Cholesterol -Fed Rabbits and in Tnf Alpha-Treated Human Aortic Endothelial Cells

open access: yes, 2011
Expression of functionally active thrombomodulin (TM) on endothelial cells is critical for vascular thromboresistance . 3-Hydroxyl-3-methyl coenzyme A reductase inhibitors ( statins) can protect the vasculature from inflammation and atherosclerosis ...
