ABSTRACT Sea Island cotton (Gossypium barbadense) produces premium‐quality fibres, yet the genetic basis underlying its fibre development remains elusive. Here, we identify two key non‐synonymous single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs, G/C and G/A) in the gene Gbar_D13G024080, which encodes the TRANSMEMBRANE PROTEIN 209 (TMEM209). These SNPs resulted in

High levels of expression of the ATP binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) in the liver and the need to over- or underexpress hepatic ABCA1 to impact plasma HDL levels in mice suggest a major role of the liver in HDL formation and in determining ...

ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) plays an essential role in the helical apolipoprotein-mediated assembly of high density lipoprotein, and the apolipoporteins stabilize ABCA1 against calpain-mediated degradation during the reaction ((2002) J ...

ABSTRACT Sugar content is a key determinant of fruit quality, and sugars also act as signalling molecules that regulate ripening processes, including anthocyanin accumulation. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying sugar accumulation and sugar signal‐mediated ripening remain incompletely understood.

ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) is a pivotal regulator of cholesterol efflux from cells to apolipoproteins, whereas sterol-responsive element-binding protein 2 (SREBP2) is the key protein regulating cholesterol synthesis and uptake.

ABCA12 Frameshift Deletion in Domestic Cats With Ichthyosis Fetalis
ABSTRACT Background Ichthyosis fetalis (IF), also known as harlequin ichthyosis, is a rare and often fatal autosomal recessive congenital skin disorder. It is characterized by thickened, hard skin plaques and deep skin fissures that limit mobility and cause malformations of the eyes, lips and ears.

The ability of HDL to support macrophage cholesterol efflux is an integral part of its atheroprotective action. Augmenting this ability, especially when HDL cholesterol efflux capacity from macrophages is poor, represents a promising therapeutic strategy.

Mutations in the ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) transporter are associated with Tangier disease and a defect in cellular cholesterol efflux.

We investigated the interaction of oxidized low density lipoprotein (OxLDL) with the ATP‐binding cassette A1 (ABCA1) pathway in J774 macrophages. Cellular efflux to apolipoprotein AI (apo‐AI) of OxLDL‐derived cholesterol was lower than efflux of cholesterol derived from acetylated low density lipoprotein (AcLDL).

Abstract Restriction of fetal substrate supply has an adverse effect on surfactant maturation in the lung and thus affects the transition from in utero placental oxygenation to pulmonary ventilation ex utero. However, the consequences of reduced fetal substrate supply are dependent on the timing of gestation, severity and duration.
