Transesophageal Echocardiographic Characteristics of Secundum-Type Atrial-Septal Defect in Adult Patients

open access: yesJournal of Tehran University Heart Center, 2009
Background: Given the dearth of data in the existing literature on the size and morphologic variability of secundum-type atrial-septal defect (ASD-II) in adult patients, we aimed to address this issue in a series of consecutive adult patients evaluated ...

Atrial Activity during Exercise in Patients with Atrial Flutter or Atrial Fibrillation

open access: yesUpsala Journal of Medical Sciences, 1975
The atrial activity was studied at rest and during exercise in 6 patients with atrial flutter and in 7 patients with atrial fibrillation. In the latter, a special recording technique was used which permitted identification of the f-waves. No increase in the frequency of the atrial waves was found.

MetaboSense: An Integrated Quantum Dot‐Mediated Aptamer Assay and Modular Microfluidic Platform for Continuous In‐Line Monitoring of Lung Metabolism During Ex Vivo Perfusion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
MetaboSense is a first‐of‐its‐kind microfluidic platform enabling continuous, in‐line monitoring of glucose and lactate during ex vivo lung perfusion. Combining a quantum dot–mediated aptamer assay with mixing, depletion, and optofluidic detection modules, it achieves 60–s temporal resolution and shows strong agreement with standard blood gas analyzers,

Phase Separation of TRIM21 Modulates PTPN14 Stability to Drive Flow‐Dependent Endothelial Activation and Atherogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Disturbed flow promotes the formation of TRIM21‐rich biomolecular droplets, which concentrate TRIM21 and PTPN14 and facilitate their SPRY‐FERM interaction (illustrated by the TRIM21 D355‐PTPN14 R132 salt bridge). This condensate‐driven proximity enables TRIM21 to catalyze K48‐linked polyubiquitination of PTPN14 at lysine 956, leading to proteasome ...

Iatrogenic Diversion of Inferior Vena Cava into Left Atrium after Surgery for a Rare Combination of Congenital Heart Diseases

open access: yesJournal of Tehran University Heart Center, 2016
Atrial septal defect (ASD) is a common congenital anomaly that has low surgical mortality and morbidity. We report a very rare case of a low-lying ASD, combined with the drainage of the inferior vena cava and the left superior vena cava into the left ...

Neuromorphic Deep‐Ultraviolet Signal Processing Using a‐Ga2O3

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Amorphous gallium oxide (a‐Ga2O3) metal‐semiconductor‐metal photodetectors exhibit paired‐pulse facilitation arising from charge trapping. Four‐bit UVC binary sequences are encoded into separable conductance states. An RC equivalent circuit model of the device is deployed in single‐ and composite multi‐node reservoir computers, achieving ∼95% accuracy ...

Chinese Expert Consensus on the Clinical Application of Finerenone in Geriatric Comorbidities

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, EarlyView.
Mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) overactivation drives inflammation, oxidative stress, and fibrosis in the heart, kidneys, and vasculature, leading to cardiorenal dysfunction. MR signaling promotes hypertrophy, remodeling, and injury through pathways like oxidative stress and inflammation, resulting in vascular stiffness and progressive organ damage ...
