Light attenuation coefficient of polarization attenuator at high attenuation level
By use of the Jones vector we deduced the Jones matrix of actual polarizer and light transmission expression, as well as the light attenuation coefficient (LAC) of two polarizers. According to computation, certain error exists when using Malus-Law to calculate polarizer’s light attenuation ratio at high attenuation level.

Optical vs. infrared studies of dusty galaxies and AGN: (I) Nebular emission lines [PDF]
Optical nebular emission lines are commonly used to estimate the star formation rate of galaxies and the black hole accretion rate of their central active nucleus. The accuracy of the conversion from line strengths to physical properties depends upon the

Design of a realistic PET-CT-MRI phantom [PDF]
The validation of the PET image quality of new PET-MRI systems should be done against the image quality of currently available PET-CT systems. This includes the validation of new attenuation correction methods.

Review on Structural Health Evaluation with Acoustic Emission
This review introduces several areas of importance in acoustic emission (AE) technology, starting from signal attenuation. Signal loss is a critical issue in any large-scale AE monitoring, but few systematic studies have appeared.
