Numerical Modeling of the Radio Wave Over-the-Horizon Propagation in the Troposphere

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2022
Using atmospheric data, which include pressure, temperature, relative humidity and water vapor pressure, the actual refractive index of a specific segment of the atmosphere has been modeled.

Radiative Transfer Model of Dust Attenuation Curves in Clumpy, Galactic Environments

open access: yes, 2016
The attenuation of starlight by dust in galactic environments is investigated through models of radiative transfer in a spherical, clumpy ISM. Extinction properties for MW, LMC, and SMC dust types are considered.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Unshielded facility testbed for electromagnetic wave attenuation using absorber slabs

open access: yesETRI Journal
This paper presents a testbed for unshielded facilities utilizing planar electro-magnetic absorbers. These slabs demonstrate comparable shielding effective-ness to that of reinforced concrete in the frequency range from 1 GHz to6 GHz.

Development of New Live-Attenuated Vaccine Candidates Lacking Antibody-Dependent Enhancement (ADE) Against Dengue

open access: yesVaccines
Dengue virus (DENV) threatens public health, especially in regions with tropical and subtropical climates. In 2024, the World Health Organisation reported 3.4 million confirmed dengue cases, with 16,000 severe cases and 3000 dengue-associated fatalities.

ATTENUATION OF SEISMIC WAVES IN THE LITHOSPHERE OF THE NORTHERN PART OF THE BASIN AND RANGE PROVINCE

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2015
This paper presents results of the study of attenuation of seismic waves in the lithosphere and upper mantle of the northern part of the Basin and Range Province (BRP) (Fig. 1).

Attenuation effect and neutrino oscillation tomography

open access: yes, 2017
Attenuation effect is the effect of weakening of contributions to the oscillation signal from remote structures of matter density profile. The effect is a consequence of integration over the neutrino energy within the energy resolution interval ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Anaerobic Bioremediation of Groundwater Containing High Concentrations of cis-1,2-Dichloroethene Using Solid Amendments

open access: yesRevista Águas Subterrâneas, 2013
A ruptured degreaser introduced trichloroethylene (TCE) into groundwater at an industrial facility in Stephenville, TX. Groundwater near the source zone (30m by 15m) had TCE concentrations near 500 mg/L, suggesting that un-dissolved contaminant was ...

Study on Sulfide Layer Attenuation Behavior of Smithsonite During Sulfidization Flotation

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2020
The S content on the surface of smithsonite plays a decisive role in smithsonite flotation. In this study, the attenuation behavior of smithsonite surface sulfide layer was investigated by inductive coupling plasma mass-spectrometric (ICP-MS) and X-ray ...
