Looking beyond Typical Treatments for Atypical Mycobacteria [PDF]
The genus Mycobacterium comprises not only the deadliest of bacterial pathogens, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, but several other pathogenic species, including M. avium and M. abscessus.

MIRU-VNTR Typing of Atypical Mycobacteria Isolated from the Lymph Nodes of Slaughtered Pigs from Poland [PDF]
No regulations currently require the excision of lymph nodes from pig carcasses or the thermal processing of pork before consumption. Therefore, the presence of anatomopathological lesions with signs of coagulation necrosis in lymph nodes from pigs ...

Atypical presentation of atypical mycobacteria in atypical diabetes. [PDF]
A 45-year-old, non-obese male presented with low-grade, remittent fever and a fluctuant swelling over the posterior aspect of his lower left flank. Laboratory tests revealed leukocytosis, raised ESR, hyperglycemia and raised HbA1C levels. Light microscopy of Ziehl-Neelsen-stained pus sample revealed numerous acid-fast bacilli.

Complete plasmid sequence carrying type IV-like and type VII secretion systems from an atypical mycobacteria strain [PDF]
The genus Mycobacterium is highly diverse and ubiquitous in nature, comprehending fast- and slow-growing species with distinct impact in public health. The plasmid-mediated horizontal gene transfer represents one of the major events in bacteria evolution.

Nosocomial Outbreak of Port-site Infection due to Atypical Mycobacteria following Laparoscopy: Suggested Infection Control Strategies [PDF]
Introduction: Atypical mycobacteria can survive in conditions that make them hard to eradicate, despite using the standard decontamination procedures and protocols.

Port-site Infection with Atypical Mycobacteria Post-laparoscopic Procedure: A Case Series [PDF]
Surgical site infections with atypical mycobacteria are uncommon but not unheard of. Atypical mycobacteria are abundantly present in soil and water and can cause infections when the immune system is compromised.
