Local methylthiolate adsorption geometry on Au(111) from photoemission core-level shifts [PDF]
The local adsorption structure of methylthiolate in the ordered Au(111)-(√3×√3)R30° phase has been investigated using core-level-shift measurements of the surface and bulk components of the Au 4f7/2 photoelectron binding energy.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

The precession of the HH 111 flow in the infrared [PDF]
We present Spitzer IRAC images of the HH 111 outflow, that show a wealth of condensations/knots in both jet and counterjet. Studying the positional distribution of these knots, we find very suggestive evidence of a mirror symmetric pattern in the jet ...

Band Renormalization of Blue Phosphorus on Au(111) [PDF]
Most recently, theoretical calculations predicted the stability of a novel two-dimensional phosphorus honeycomb lattice named blue phosphorus. Here, we report on the growth of blue phosphorus on Au(111) and unravel its structural details using diffraction, microscopy and theoretical calculations.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Friction on I‐Modified Au(111) in a Tetraglyme Electrolyte
In situ electrochemical lateral force microscopy (EC‐LFM) has been employed to study the ordered structure of Li+ containing tetraglyme (G4) in front of I‐modified Au(111) and its influence on friction as function of normal load.

n-Alkyl Thiol Head Group Interactions with the Au(111) Surface
State-of-the-art first principles calculations based on density functional theory were performed on CH_3(CH_2)_{n-1}S-Au(111) systems. We show that the adsorption site of methylthiolate at low coverage on the Au(111) surface is the fcc site, not the hcp ...
