Investigation of Bamboo Biodiesel Performance in Variable Compression Ratio Engines

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 13, Issue 11, Page 5465-5481, November 2025.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the potential of bamboo‐derived biodiesel as a sustainable alternative to conventional diesel fuel in compression ignition (CI) engines. Biodiesel produced from Bambusa vulgaris was evaluated in blends designated BV5, BV10, BV15, BV20, and BV25.

Influence of high ethane content on natural gas ignition

open access: yesRevista Ingenio, 2019
The effect of ethane on combustion and natural gas autoignition was studied in the present paper. Two fuel mixture of natural gas with high ethane content were considered, 75% CH4 – 25% C2H6 (mixture 1), and 50% CH4 – 50% C2H6 (mixture 2).

Effect of Green Hydrogen Enrichment and Carbon Nanotubes Introduced Biodiesel–Diesel Blend on the Behavior of the Diesel Engine Modified to Operate on a Dual‐Fuel Mode

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 13, Issue 11, Page 5587-5604, November 2025.
ABSTRACT The influence of n‐heptane mixed with jatropha oil methyl ester (JOME)–diesel with different metal oxide additions, such as aluminum oxide (Al2O3), titanium dioxide (TiO2), and carbon‐based nanoparticles (NPs) including multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) at a quantity of 60 mg/L, and enrichment of hydrogen (H2) at a quantity of 6 lpm are ...

Investigating the Effect of 2-Ethylhexyl Nitrate Cetane Improver (2-EHN) on the Autoignition Characteristics of a 1-Butanol–Diesel Blend

open access: yesEnergies
One promising oxygenate additive being considered as a fuel component for diesel engines is 1-butanol. However, since 1-butanol is characterized, like many other alcohols, by poor autoignition properties and, consequently, a low cetane number, the ...

Combustion analysis in a natural gas engine with pre-chamber by three-dimensional numerical simulation

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2015
Highly efficient natural gas engines have been widely used in wide range of sectors from industry and transportation. However, because combustion process in gas engines with a pre-chamber is very complicated, it is difficult to experimentally investigate

Exploring the Combined Effects of Hydrogen and Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes on the Performance, Emissions, and Combustion Characteristics of a Diesel Engine Operating on Ternary Fuel Mode

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 13, Issue 11, Page 5684-5701, November 2025.
Representation of ternary fuel blends effects with H2 and MWCNTs on a CI Engine. ABSTRACT This study explores a unique fuel blend known as ternary fuel (TF), which consists of 10% ethanol, B20 (a mix of 20% Nerium oleander methyl ester and 80% diesel), and 50 mg/L (C50) of multiwall carbon nanotubes with hydrogen (H2) infusion of 6 lpm to examine how ...

Effects of Water and Air on the Reaction Pathways in the Hydrothermal Liquefaction of Plastics

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 20, October 23, 2025.
Is water an innocent solvent for the hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) of plastics? Does it also react with plastic under supercritical conditions? Only in the absence of oxygen does water appear to be the former. Despite observations that residual oxygen under HTL conditions is the sole source of oxidized reaction products, several aspects of the ...

The Future of Engine Knock and Fuel Octane Numbers in the Era of Biofuels and Vehicle Electrification

open access: yesFuture Transportation
Engine knock remains a critical limitation in spark-ignition engine design. Future hybrid powertrains employ downsized engines operating on Atkinson cycles, creating different knock conditions compared to modern naturally aspirated or turbocharged ...

A Pressurized Vitiated Co-Flow Burner and Its Preliminary Application for a Methane Lifted Flame

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
A new pressurized vitiated co-flow burner (PVCB) was designed and built for the investigation of lifted flame properties and was supported by a vitiated co-flow of hot combustion products from a lean H2/air flame at a controllable pressure; its ...
