Development of a Biological Dosimeter for Translocation Scoring Based on Two-Color Fluorescence in Situ Hybridization of Chromosome Subsets [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Recently fluorescence in situ hybridization protocols have been developed which allow the paining of individual chromosomes using DNA-libraries from sorted human chromosomes.

Human Essay Scoring Versus Automated Essay Scoring: A Comparative Study

open access: yes, 2017
<p>Language instructors have been giving preference to the different writing tests designed to score the written material of students differently in order to identify whether the students have the writing skills as per the requirements. Most of the

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Automated FRAP microscopy for high‐throughput analysis of protein dynamics in chromatin organization and transcription

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoboMic is an automated confocal microscopy pipeline for high‐throughput functional imaging in living cells. Demonstrated with fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP), it integrates AI‐driven nuclear segmentation, ROI selection, bleaching, and analysis.

AUTOMATED TOOLS FOR SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT EVALUATION OF AUTOMATED SCORING [PDF]

open access: yesETS Research Report Series, 2004
ABSTRACTAs automated scoring of complex constructed‐response examinations reaches operational status, the process of evaluating the quality of resultant scores, particularly in contrast to scores of expert human graders, becomes as complex as the data itself.

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Among Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Methods, Automated Gradient-Boosting Models Accurately Score Intraoral Plaque in Non-Standardized Images

open access: yesJournal of the California Dental Association
Background Previous automated models inaccurately scored non-standardized plaque images. The objectives were to develop and test automated image selection and intraoral plaque-scoring (primary outcome measure in a prevention trial for preschoolers ...

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Automated Democracy Scores

open access: yesBrazilian Review of Econometrics, 2014
This papers uses natural language processing to create the first machine-coded democracy index, which I call Automated Democracy Scores (ADS). The ADS is based on 42 million news articles from 6,043 different sources and cover all indepen- dent countries in the 1993-2012 period.
