Automated Vehicle Control

1999
In this chapter we outlined a design for a longitudinal and a lateral controller and discussed communication technologies and sensor requirements for automated vehicles. We highlighted benefits in safety that may be expected due to use of automation.

Automated Vehicles: Use, Share, Own? Young Adults’ Perceptions of Automated Vehicles

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2022
Automated Vehicles (AVs) will change the transportation landscape in still-uncertain ways. The timeline for this change depends not just on the pace of technological advancement, but also on public attitudes about AVs. These attitudes include perceptions of safety and tolerance of new vehicle ownership structures that will likely emerge when and if ...

Automating agricultural vehicles

Industrial Robot: An International Journal, 1997
Describes the design and construction of TROWEL ‐ a test bed for experimental agricultural vehicles. The vehicle will be used to explore ways of increasing the productivity of expensive agricultural mobile machinery by taking over some of the tasks of the operator, allowing him to drive faster or for longer; and by allowing a single operator to control

Contingency planning for automated vehicles

2016 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS), 2016
Automated driving is a safety critical process, which requires complex decision making. In order to validate driving decisions, it is possible to maintain at all times a contingency maneuver, which transfers the vehicle to a safe standstill, if other decision making processes fail.

Automated Vehicle Control

2011
In this chapter all the results of the previous chapters are generalized to include system failures as well as model uncertainties. It is shown the DSC is a passive fault tolerant approach in that it gives robust stability and tracking in the presence of model uncertainties and specific classes of faults.

Automated Guided Vehicles

1986
Mobile robots in general are dealt with in Chapter 9. An important class of mobile robot is the AGV. It is distinguished by being in widespread industrial use, and has a well-defined, although developing, technology, to which this chapter is devoted.

Automated Guided Vehicles

1990
Abstract : A considerable cost is incurred in today's manufacturing industry in the process of manually moving components between work stations. One possible means of reducing this cost may be found through the use of computer- controllable Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs).
