Three-Arm AC Automatic Voltage Regulator

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2011
In this paper, a novel ac automatic voltage regulator (AVR) is proposed. This AVR is configured by an input inductor, an output filter, a small-capacitance dc capacitor, and a three-arm power converter. This three-arm power converter acts as an ac boost converter when the utility voltage is lower than the specified voltage.

FOPID controller with fractional filter for an automatic voltage regulator

Computers and Electrical Engineering, 2021
Abstract This article presents a novel fractional order proportional–integral–derivative (FOPID) controller with fractional filter for an automatic voltage regulator (AVR) system. The proposed controller has seven independent parameters to be set.

Robust Controller Design for Automatic Voltage Regulation

2020 American Control Conference (ACC), 2020
In this paper, a robust controller is developed for an automatic voltage regulator (AVR) in power systems. In reality, the voltage at each substation fluctuates constantly due to disturbances. These voltage disturbances are mainly caused by load changes and loss of equipment.

MATHEMATICAL MODELLING OF AN AUTOMATIC VOLTAGE REGULATOR

Journal of Circuits, Systems and Computers, 1996
This letter describes the mathematical modelling of an automatic voltage regulator (avr) in a form which is compatible with models developed for many other items of electrical plant. The corresponding equations are suitable for numerical solution on a digital computer, and results are presented to illustrate the performance when the avr program is ...

Optimal design of robust resilient automatic voltage regulators

ISA Transactions, 2021
Uncertainties in the plant model parameters and perturbations in the controller gains imposed by implementation errors represent a challenge to ensure robust stability and controller non-fragility simultaneously. Optimal design of robust non-fragile proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller is presented for an automatic voltage regulator (AVR).
