Material tracking with dynamic torque adaptation for tension control in wire rod mill [PDF]
Material tracking is an important part of the automation control system which has a major impact on the product quality. This paper addresses a stand load identification in wire rod mill as a new algorithm added to existing control system.

A grid interactive power control unit for microgrid
A Direct Current (DC) bus architecture is essential today as a large portion of modern appliances operate on DC power. However, a traditional Power Control Unit (PCU) typically does not support DC load integration.

BIF : a behavioral intermediate format for high level synthesis [PDF]
This report describes a new intermediate format for behavioral synthesis systems, based on annotated state tables. It supports user control of the synthesis process by allowing specification of partial design structures, user-bindings and user ...

Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Operating injection lasers by fast square current pulses of variable amplitude [PDF]
A simple solid state circuit was used to drive GaAs injection lasers by fast (∼100 nsec) square pulses of variable amplitude (0–25 A). The amplitudes of the current pulses and the corresponding emitted light pulses were measured by a dual peak detector ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

HardScope: Thwarting DOP with Hardware-assisted Run-time Scope Enforcement
Widespread use of memory unsafe programming languages (e.g., C and C++) leaves many systems vulnerable to memory corruption attacks. A variety of defenses have been proposed to mitigate attacks that exploit memory errors to hijack the control flow of the

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...
