Layered Autonomic Systems [PDF]
We adopt a layered approach to autonomic systems to simplify the specification, implementation and evaluation of self-* behaviours. Autonomy is rendered in two dimensions and interfaces suitable for tool based development are incorporated. To exemplify our approach we present an emergent solution for airspace management.

The functions of the autonomic nervous system are (1) control of vital signs, (2) visceral control, and (3) adjustment to the external environment. The autonomic nervous system consists of sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, which are different from each other anatomically as well as pharmacologically.

Towards autonomic computing systems
Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, 2004Firstly, an in-depth analysis is presented on the concept of autonomic computing and a generic architecture is put forward for autonomic computing systems. Then, a taxonomy is put forward for system adaptations and the concept and architecture are presented for each category of system adaptations. Thirdly, a brief survey is presented upon the states of

Autonomous Microfluidic Capillary System
Analytical Chemistry, 2002The transport of minute amounts of liquids using microfluidic systems has opened avenues for higher throughput and parallelization of miniaturized bio/chemical processes combined with a great economy of reagents. In this report, we present a microfluidic capillary system (CS) that autonomously transports aliquots of different liquids in sequence ...

The autonomic nervous system innervates the visceral organs, the glands and the blood vessels. It regulates the internal environment, and it is largely responsible for maintaining normal bodily functions such as respiration, blood pressure and micturition. Autonomous hydrogen production system
International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2015A system for hydrogen production via water electrolysis using solar energy has been designed and is presented in this paper. Investigations were related to the experimental measurements and modeling of the 60W electrolyzer and 100W PV module separately and, subsequently, as coupled system.
