Modeling of Sulfur-Driven Autotrophic Denitrification Coupled with Anammox Process
While sulfur-driven autotrophic denitrification (SDAD) occurring in the anoxic reactor of the sulfate reduction, autotrophic denitrification and nitrification integrated (SANI) system has been regarded as the main nitrogen removal bioprocess, little is known about the accompanying Anammox bacteria whose presence is made possible by the co-existence of ...

Autotrophic Denitrification Processes
Effluents coming from anaerobic digesters are characterized by a COD/N ratio between 2 and 10, high ammonia NH4+ concentrations about 500 mg/L and a temperature range of 25-35 ºC. To remove nitrogen from these effluents biological processes as the autotrophic denitrification with sulfur compounds, hydrogen or methane can be applied.

Evaluation of kinetic parameters of a sulfur–limestone autotrophic denitrification biofilm process
Water Research, 2005In this study, four kinetic parameters of autotrophic denitrifiers in fixed-bed sulfur-limestone autotrophic denitrification (SLAD) columns were evaluated. The curve-matching method was used by conducting 22 non-steady-state tests for estimation of half-velocity constant, K(s) and maximum specific substrate utilization rate, k. To estimate the bacteria

This study demonstrated that a combined heterotrophic and autotrophic denitrification (HAD) process is highly effective for the simultaneous removal of acetate, nitrate, and sulfide at an efficiency of 100, 80, and 100 %, respectively. In the HAD system, simultaneous sulfide, acetate, and nitrate removals were observed, which indicated that ...

The coexistence of antibiotics with sulfide and nitrate is common in sewage. Thus, this study explored the removal performance of nitrate and sulfide, and the response of extracellular polymer substances (EPS) and the microbial community to the sulfide autotrophic denitrification (SAD) process under oxytetracycline (OTC) stress.

Biogas desulfurization using autotrophic denitrification process
Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2015The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of an autotrophic denitrification process for desulfurization of biogas produced from a chicken manure digester. A laboratory scale upflow fixed bed reactor (UFBR) was operated for 105 days and fed with sodium sulfide or H2S scrubbed from the biogas and nitrate as electron donor and acceptor ...
