Averaging method for systems with separatrix crossing [PDF]
The averaging method provides a powerful tool for studying evolution in near-integrable systems. Existence of separatrices in the phase space of the underlying integrable system is an obstacle for application of standard results that justify using of ...

The Whitham Modulation Solution of the Complex Modified KdV Equation
This paper primarily concerns the Whitham modulation equation of the complex modified Korteweg–de Vries (cmKdV) equation with a step-like initial value. By utilizing the Lax pair, we derive the N-genus Whitham equations via the averaging method.

We consider averaging methods for solving the 3-D boundary-value problem of second order in multilayer domain. The special hyperbolic and exponential type splines, with middle integral values of piece-wise smooth function interpolation are considered ...

Application of the averaging method to the gyrokinetic plasma [PDF]
we show that the solution to an oscillatory-singularly perturbed ordinary differential equation may be asymptotically expanded into a sum of oscillating terms.

Commutator method for averaging lemmas
We introduce a commutator method with multipliers to prove averaging lemmas, the regularizing effect for the velocity average of solutions for kinetic equations. This method requires only elementary techniques in Fourier analysis and shows a new range of assumptions that are sufficient for the velocity average to be in $L^2([0,T],H^{1/2}_x).$ This ...

Finite bias visibility of the electronic Mach-Zehnder interferometer [PDF]
We present an original statistical method to measure the visibility of interferences in an electronic Mach-Zehnder interferometer in the presence of low frequency fluctuations.

In this paper we study the asymptotic integration problem in the neighborhood of infinity for a certain class of linear functional differential systems. We construct the asymptotics for the solutions of the considered systems in a critical case.

On the birth of limit cycles for non-smooth dynamical systems [PDF]
The main objective of this work is to develop, via Brower degree theory and regularization theory, a variation of the classical averaging method for detecting limit cycles of certain piecewise continuous dynamical systems.

The average method is much better than average
Operator splitting is a powerful method for the numerical investigation of complex time-dependent models, where the stationary (elliptic) part consists of a sum of several structurally simpler sub-operators. As an alternative to the classical splitting methods, a new splitting scheme is proposed here, the Average Method with sequential splitting.
