Immunohistochemistry and molecular epidemiology of avian paramyxovirus 1 from formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded sections of Japanese doves (Columba livia) affected with neurological signs. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Vet Med Sci, 2015
Four doves (Nos. 1-4 birds) affected with neurological signs (ataxia, circling and torticollis) were investigated pathologically and microbiologically. Viral isolation was tried from the tracheal and cloacal swabs of all 4 birds and from liver, spleen, kidney, heart, lung and brain of Nos. 1 and 2 birds.

Isolation and Molecular Identification of Avian Paramyxovirus-1 from Broiler Outbreak in Qaliobia Governorate, Egypt [PDF]

open access: yesBenha Veterinary Medical Journal, 2018
The worrying Newcastle disease is endemic in Egypt with outbreaks occurring from one time toanother causing dramatic economic losses in poultry flocks. The current study was a trial to isolateand identify NDV from poultry flocks in Egypt during 2015 and 2016. The NDV was isolated in theallantois cavity of specific pathogen free embryonated chicken eggs

Molecular and retrospective analysis of pigeon paramyxovirus type 1 infections in confinement-reared pigeons (Columbia livia); 2010–2020

open access: yesJournal of Applied Poultry Research, 2023
SUMMARY: Pigeon paramyxovirus type 1 (PPMV-1; species Avian orthoavulavirus-1) causes a highly infectious, acute disease of Columbiformes. The objectives of this study were to estimate the occurrence of PPMV-1 in confinement-reared pigeons in California,

Isolation, full sequence analysis, and in situ hybridization of pigeon paramyxovirus-1 genotype VI.2.1.1.2.2 from oriental turtle doves (Streptopelia orientalis)

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2023
: Pigeon paramyxovirus-1 (PPMV-1), a genetic variant of avian paramyxovirus-1 (APMV-1), has been identified in Columbiformes and is the primary cause of diseases in captive and free-ranging pigeons.

Isolation of Avian Paramyxovirus 1 from a Patient with a Lethal Case of Pneumonia [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 2007
ABSTRACT An unknown virus was isolated from a lung biopsy sample and multiple other samples from a patient who developed a lethal case of pneumonia following a peripheral blood stem cell transplant. A random PCR-based molecular screening method was used to identify the infectious agent as avian paramyxovirus 1 (APMV-1; a group encompassing ...

Concurrent pigeon paramyxovirus-1 and Acinetobacter baumannii infection in a fatal case of pneumonia

open access: yesEmerging Microbes and Infections, 2022
Pigeon paramyxovirus type 1 (PPMV-1), an antigenic variant of avian paramyxovirus type 1 (APMV-1), mainly infects pigeons. PPMV-1 genotype VI is the dominant genotype infecting pigeons in China. Human infection of avian paramyxovirus was rarely reported,

Seroepidemiologic Survey of Potential Pathogens in Obligate and Facultative Scavenging Avian Species in California. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Throughout the world, populations of scavenger birds are declining rapidly with some populations already on the brink of extinction. Much of the current research into the factors contributing to these declines has focused on exposure to drug residues ...
