Experimental Performance Study on Axial Compressive Load-Bearing Capacity of Steel Slag Micropowder Ecotype UHPC of Short Columns Steel Pipe

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In order to study the axial compression performance of steel pipe concrete short columns filled with steel slag micronized ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), this paper designs 27 steel pipe UHPC short columns for axial compression test and compares

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Targeting transcription factors associated with hemoglobinopathies: Lessons from successful interventions and implications for cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the transcription factors, repressive chromatin‐modifying complexes, and epigenetic mechanisms that control fetal hemoglobin repression. Notably, many regulators of γ‐globin silencing also function in transcriptional and epigenetic networks that drive cancer, highlighting opportunities to translate advances in hemoglobinopathy ...

Pharmacological chromatin remodeling enhances response to estrogen therapy in ER+ breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Estrogen therapy elicits clinical benefit in ~ 30% of patients with endocrine‐resistant estrogen receptor (ER)‐positive breast cancer. Based on findings that ER transcriptional activation underlies response to estrogen therapy, we tested the effects of epigenetic dysregulation via pharmacological inhibition of histone deacetylases (HDACi).

Bearing capacity of UHPC-filled circular steel tube short column under axial compression

open access: yesGrađevinar
This study establishes a predictive formula for the axial compression bearing capacity of Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) filled circular steel tube (circular UHPCFST) short columns. The basis for establishing this formula is the derivation method

Axial Compression and Uplift Performance of Continuous Helix Screw Piles

open access: yesBuildings
This study investigates the axial performance of continuous helix screw piles compared to helical piles through full-scale compression and tension load testing in layered soils. Twenty-three piles were installed and tested. The results demonstrate that screw piles can achieve considerable axial capacity with lower installation torque than helical piles,

Intrapatient tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution in an autopsy study of metastatic salivary gland cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution of metastatic salivary gland cancer were evaluated in two patients with adenoid carcinoma and one patient with myoepithelial carcinoma. Radiology‐guided autopsy enabled multi‐region sampling (total samples n = 149), followed by whole‐genome sequencing and phylogenetic reconstruction (17 tumour samples, 4–7 per ...

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Axial Compressive Performance of Wood-Cored GFRP Sandwich Columns

open access: yesBuildings
Paulownia wood, as a fast-growing natural material, exhibits inherently low axial compressive strength. To improve the axial structural performance of Paulownia wood, wood-cored glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) sandwich Paulownia wood columns were developed in this study.
