Magnification Effect of Foveal Avascular Zone Measurement Using Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography

open access: yesBiomedicine Hub, 2020
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the foveal avascular zone (FAZ) of healthy subjects and examine the magnification effect. Methods: A total of 33 healthy volunteers were enrolled and all subjects were eligible for analysis.

Pattern selection in the absolutely unstable regime as a nonlinear eigenvalue problem: Taylor vortices in axial flow

open access: yes, 1996
A unique pattern selection in the absolutely unstable regime of a driven, nonlinear, open-flow system is analyzed: The spatiotemporal structures of rotationally symmetric vortices that propagate downstream in the annulus of the rotating Taylor-Couette ...

Tubular modular permanent-magnet machines equipped with quasi-Halbach magnetized magnets - Part II: Armature reaction and design optimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Using the analytical formulas derived in Part I for predicting the magnetic field distribution, thrust force, and electromotive force of a three-phase tubular modular permanent-magnet machine equipped with quasi-Halbach magnetized magnets, this paper ...

Estimation of ocular volume from axial length [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Ophthalmology, 2014
To determine which biometric parameters provide optimum predictive power for ocular volume.Sixty-seven adult subjects were scanned with a Siemens 3-T MRI scanner. Mean spherical error (MSE) (D) was measured with a Shin-Nippon autorefractor and a Zeiss IOLMaster used to measure (mm) axial length (AL), anterior chamber depth (ACD) and corneal radius (CR).

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Intein‐based modular chimeric antigen receptor platform for specific CD19/CD20 co‐targeting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CARtein is a modular CAR platform that uses split inteins to splice antigen‐recognition modules onto a universal signaling backbone, enabling precise, scarless assembly without re‐engineering signaling domains. Deployed here against CD19 and CD20 in B‐cell malignancies, the design supports flexible multi‐antigen targeting to boost T‐cell activation and

Relationship of choroidal thickness and axial length with posterior vitreous detachment in patients with high myopia

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Although accumulating evidence suggests a higher prevalence of posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) in highly myopic eyes, the relation between ocular biometric features and PVD stages in such eyes remains unclear. Therefore, we enrolled 170 patients with

Raman spectroscopic determination of the length, strength, compressibility, Debye temperature, elasticity, and force constant of the C-C bond in graphene

open access: yes, 2011
From the perspective of bond relaxation and vibration, we have reconciled the Raman shifts of graphene under the stimuli of the number-of-layer, uni-axial-strain, pressure, and temperature in terms of the response of the length and strength of the ...
