Background: Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a chronic inflammatory condition predominantly affecting the peripheral joints. However, some patients with PsA can experience axial involvement which is manifested with back pain and associated with increased ...

Hematological Inflammation Indices Are Associated With Active Uveitis in Ankylosing Spondylitis
Hematological inflammation indices reflect the systemic inflammatory burden in ankylosing spondylitis. Patients with active uveitis exhibit a distinct pro‐inflammatory profile characterised by increased NLR, PLR, SII, SIRI, and AISI, along with decreased HALP and CALLY scores.

“Is Axial Psoriatic Arthritis distinct from Ankylosing Spondylitis with and without Psoriasis?” [PDF]
Hypotheses: 1. Unilateral grade 2 sacroiliitis does not necessarily progress in psoriatic arthritis (PsA) 2. Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) with psoriasis and axial PsA are different phenotypes of the same disease Methods: Retrospective observational ...

Successful treatment of eosinophilic esophagitis with upadacitinib prescribed for atopic dermatitis
Abstract We describe a pediatric patient treated with upadacitinib for atopic dermatitis (AD) who subsequently achieved sustained clinical and histologic remission of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). Upadacitinib is an oral small molecule selective Janus kinase 1 inhibitor that inhibits janus kinase‐signal transduction and activation of transcription ...

Discriminant validity of the Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Score (ASDAS) in patients with non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis and ankylosing spondylitis: A cohort study [PDF]
The aim of this study was to assess discriminant validity of Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Score (ASDAS)-C-reactive protein (-CRP) and ASDAS-erythrocyte sedimentation rate (-ESR) and to compare with The Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease ...

Paradoxical Alopecia Areata Induced by IL‐17 and IL‐23 Inhibitors: A Systematic Review
This systematic review identifies consistent clinical patterns of alopecia areata associated with IL‐17 and IL‐23 inhibitors, most frequently involving secukinumab and ustekinumab. Disease severity varied widely, and management often required biologic discontinuation or therapeutic switching.

Role for imaging studies in ankylosing spondylitis [PDF]
Although the diagnosis and structural monitoring of ankylosing spondylitis relies classically on standard radiography, recent classification criteria and recommendations issued by the ASAS-OMERACT working group give considerable weight to modern imaging ...

Might axial myofascial properties and biomechanical mechanisms be relevant to ankylosing spondylitis and axial spondyloarthritis? [PDF]
AbstractAnkylosing spondylitis and axial spondyloarthropathy have characteristic age- and sex-specific onset patterns, typical entheseal lesions, and marked heritability, but the integrative mechanisms causing the pathophysiological and structural alterations remain largely undefined. Myofascial tissues are integrated in the body into webs and networks

National Trends and Risk Factors for Dysphagia After Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion
From 2016 to 2023, inpatient anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) volume declined 52.2% while postoperative dysphagia rates increased 11.4% annually. Analysis of 496,425 cases demonstrated that dysphagia risk varied markedly by surgical indication, with cervical diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis, cervical spine fracture, and ...
