Azobenzene protonation as a tool for temperature sensing [PDF]

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry
Azobenzenes can be protonated at one of the azo nitrogen atoms, leading to significant changes in their absorption and photochemical properties. While azobenzene protonation has been recently used as a tool in photoswitching studies, the factors ...

Synthesis of N-acetyl diazocine derivatives via cross-coupling reaction [PDF]

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry
Diazocines are photoswitches derived from azobenzenes by bridging the two phenyl rings in ortho position with a CH2CH2 group forming an eight membered (diazocine) ring.

Active Ester Functionalized Azobenzenes as Versatile Building Blocks

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
Azobenzenes are important molecular switches that can still be difficult to functionalize selectively. A high yielding Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling method under mild conditions for the introduction of NHS esters to azobenzenes and diazocines has been ...

Dihydroazulene‐Azobenzene‐Dihydroazulene Triad Photoswitches [PDF]

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, 2021
AbstractPhotoswitch triads comprising two dihydroazulene (DHA) units in conjugation with a central trans‐azobenzene (AZB) unit were prepared in stepwise protocols starting from meta‐ and para‐disubstituted azobenzenes. The para‐connected triad had significantly altered optical properties and lacked the photoactivity of the separate photochromes.

Reversible, Red-Shifted Photoisomerization in Protonated Azobenzenes

open access: yesJournal of Organic Chemistry, 2022
Azobenzenes are among the best-studied molecular photoswitches and play a key role in the search for red-shifted photoresponsive materials for extended applications.

Building Triazolated Macrocycles from Bis-Propargylated Calix[4]arenes and Bis-Azidomethylated Azobenzene or Stilbene

open access: yesMolbank, 2023
Copper(I)-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition was employed to construct biscalixarene assemblies from the calix[4]arene dipropargyl ethers and 4,4′-bis-azidomethylated azobenzene or stilbene.
