Cyclization of Azobenzenes Via Electrochemical Oxidation Induced Benzylic Radical Generation.

Organic Letters, 2023
An electrochemical oxidation-induced cyclization of ortho-alkyl-substituted azobenzenes has been developed. The direct electrochemical benzylic C-H functionalization with respect to azobenzenes could proceed in the absence of any catalyst or external ...

Zr(OH)4 Catalyzed Controllable Selective Oxidation of Anilines to Azoxybenzenes, Azobenzenes and Nitrosobenzenes.

Angewandte Chemie, 2021
The selective oxidation of aniline to metastable and valuable azoxybenzene, azobenzene or nitrosobenzene has important practical significance in organic synthesis.

Synthesis of (2H)-Indazoles and Dihydrocinnolinones through Annulation of Azobenzenes with Vinylene Carbonate under Rh(III) Catalysis.

Organic Letters, 2021
The Rh(III)-catalyzed C-H functionalization and subsequent intramolecular cyclization between azobenzenes and vinylene carbonate is described herein. Depending on the electronic property of azobenzenes, this transformation results in the formation of (2H)

Visible-Light-Promoted Diboron-Mediated Transfer Hydrogenation of Azobenzenes to Hydrazobenzenes.

Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2021
A visible-light-promoted transfer hydrogenation of azobenzenes has been developed. In the presence of B2pin2 and upon visible-light irradiation, the reactions proceeded smoothly in methanol at ambient temperature.

Cyclic Azobenzene‐BODIPY Hybrids

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2023
AbstractCyclic azobenzene‐BODIPY hybrids were synthesized via cyclization by 1) acid‐catalysed condensation of azobenzene‐bridged dipyrroles with 3,5‐di‐tert‐butylbenzaldehyde, 2) oxidation with DDQ, and 3) metalation with BF3 ⋅ Et2O. The structures of many cyclic hybrids have been confirmed by single crystal X‐ray analysis.

Visible-Light-Mediated Hydroacylation of Azobenzenes with α-Keto Acids.

Organic Letters, 2020
A visible-light-mediated protocol for the hydroacylation of azobenzenes with α-keto acids has been developed. In the absence of any catalyst or additive, decarboxylative hydroacylation proceeded smoothly under visible-light irradiation at room ...

Photoresponsive Dendritic Azobenzene Peptides

ChemBioChem, 2001
Two dendritic peptides containing a branched lysine core and up to eight azobenzene moieties in the periphery were synthesized on solid support employing the omega-amino acid 4-(aminomethyl)phenylazobenzoic acid. With an additional peptidic tail consisting of an oligolysine portion, water solubility was achieved for the dendrimers, which allowed for ...

Mechano-isomerization of azobenzene

Chemical Communications, 2013
We show that ultrasound-induced mechanical force isomerizes an azobenzene centered within a poly(methyl acrylate) polymer from cis to trans configuration without cleaving the azo bond. The isomerization rate was not altered by the polarity of the solvent indicating that the isomerization occurs through a non-polar, inversion transition state.

Azobenzene photoswitches for biomolecules

Chemical Society Reviews, 2011
The photoisomerization of azobenzene has been known for almost 75 years but only recently has this process been widely applied to biological systems. The central challenge of how to productively couple the isomerization process to a large functional change in a biomolecule has been met in a number of instances and it appears that effective photocontrol
