Multitargeted Low-Dose GLAD Combination Chemoprevention: A Novel and Promising Approach to Combat Colon Carcinogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 1967
Preclinical studies have shown that gefitinib, licofelone, atorvastatin, and α-difluoromethylornithine (GLAD) are promising colon cancer chemopreventive agents.

Preventive Effects of Resveratrol against Azoxymethane Induced Damage in Rat Liver

open access: yesAsian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention, 2013
In recent years, due to modern lifestyles and exposure to chemical carcinogens, cancer cases are steadily increasing. From this standpoint, azoxymethane (AOM), a chemical carcinogen which causes de novo liver damage, and resveratrol, which is an antioxidant found in foods and protects against oxidative stress damage, are of interest.

STK25 Loss Augments Anti‐PD‐1 Therapy Efficacy by Regulating PD‐L1 Stability in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 39, October 20, 2025.
This study demonstrates that STK25 depletion facilitates CRC immune escape through the inhibition of PD‐L1 Ser283 phosphorylation‐mediated ubiquitination, and promotes tumor growth. Furthermore, these findings identify STK25 as a potential therapeutic target to trigger antitumor immunity and promote immunotherapy efficacy. Abstract Tumor immune evasion

Effect of the dietary polyacetylenes falcarinol and falcarindiol on the gut microbiota composition in a rat model of colorectal cancer

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2018
Objectives (3R)-Falcarinol (FaOH) and (3R,8S)-falcarindiol (FaDOH) have previously been shown to reduce the number of neoplastic lesions and the growth rate of polyps in the colon of azoxymethane (AOM) treated rats.

The Chemopotential Effect of Annona muricata Leaves against Azoxymethane-Induced Colonic Aberrant Crypt Foci in Rats and the Apoptotic Effect of Acetogenin Annomuricin E in HT-29 Cells: A Bioassay-Guided Approach

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Annona muricata has been used in folk medicine for the treatment of cancer and tumors. This study evaluated the chemopreventive properties of an ethyl acetate extract of A. muricata leaves (EEAML) on azoxymethane-induced colonic aberrant crypt foci (ACF)

Catalpol: An Iridoid Glycoside With Potential in Combating Cancer Development and Progression—A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, Volume 39, Issue 10, Page 4950-4971, October 2025.
Catalpol's potential in inhibiting cancer development and progression through various pathways. ABSTRACT Catalpol, a natural iridoid glycoside known for its anti‐proliferative effects, has been proposed as an anticancer compound. Catalpol targets critical processes involved in cancer cell progression, like malignant proliferation, apoptosis, and ...

Strawberry Phytochemicals Inhibit Azoxymethane/Dextran Sodium Sulfate-Induced Colorectal Carcinogenesis in Crj: CD-1 Mice

open access: yesNutrients, 2015
Human and experimental colon carcinogenesis are enhanced by a pro-inflammatory microenvironment. Pharmacologically driven chemopreventive agents and dietary variables are hypothesized to have future roles in the prevention of colon cancer by targeting ...

Elevated circulating TGFβ1 during acute liver failure activates TGFβR2 on cortical neurons and exacerbates neuroinflammation and hepatic encephalopathy in mice

open access: yesJournal of Neuroinflammation, 2019
Background Acute liver failure resulting from drug-induced liver injury can lead to the development of neurological complications called hepatic encephalopathy (HE). Hepatic transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGFβ1) is upregulated due to liver failure in

Energy balance and cancers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Energy balance results from the exact equilibrium between caloric intake and caloric expenditure. A caloric intake larger than caloric expenditure results in overweight, even obesity, but other determinants, like hormonal dysfunction and/or genetic ...

Preventive effects of Resveratrol against azoxymethane-induced testis injury in rats

open access: yesAndrologia, 2016
To evaluate the protective effects of Resveratrol (RES) on azoxymethane (AOM)-induced testicular damage using histopathology and biochemical analyses, 28 male rats were randomly divided into four groups. Groups were control, RES, AOM and ARES. At the end of the 7 weeks, following routine tissue processing procedure, testis sections were stained with ...
