Current status and future perspectives of multi‐modal bacteria‐based cancer therapies

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2025.
Bacteria exhibit inherent tumour‐targeting capabilities, particularly thriving in hypoxic tumour microenvironments (TMEs) and activating potent anti‐tumour immune responses through pathogen‐associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and immunomodulation.

Anti-proliferative properties of azurin derived hexapeptides.

open access: yes, 2016
Azurin, a copper-containing redox protein is produced by the bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Azurin is a low molecular weight protein (128 aa – 14 kDa), having anticancer, antiviral and antiparasitic activities.

Heterologous expression of azurin from Pseudomonas aeruginosa in food-grade Lactococcus lactis

open access: yes, 2019
In this study, azurin, a bacteriocin with anticancer property, was produced by food-grade Lactococcus lactis using the Nisin Controlled Gene Expression (NICE) System.

Simulation of phylogenetic trees of azurin with RosettaEvolve.

open access: yes, 2023
Dependence of sequence entropy of leaf sequences with reference energies. The green line corresponds to the entropy in the natural sequences used to infer the azurin tree. The red line corresponds to the energy of the native sequence of azurin.

Effect of azurin in FAK-Src signaling.

open access: yes, 2013
Azurin at 50 µM and 100 µM decreased phosphorylation levels of FAK Y397 and Src Y416 in both MCF-7/AZ.Pcad and SUM149 breast cancer cells, but not Akt S473, in a dose-dependent manner. Levels for total FAK, Src and Akt were also analyzed.

Long-Range Interfacial Electrochemical Electron Transfer of Pseudomonas aeruginosa Azurin-Gold Nanoparticle Hybrid Systems

open access: yes, 2009
We have prepared a "hybrid" of the blue copper protein azurin (Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and a 3 nm gold nanoparticle (AuNP). The AuNP/azurin hybrid was assembled on a Au(111)-electrode surface in a two-step process.

Azurin decreases P-cadherin protein levels.

open access: yes, 2013
a) One single treatment with azurin at 50 µM and 100 µM for 48 h (MCF-7/AZ.Pcad) and 24 h (SUM149) (to match the time course of invasion assays) reduces the P-cadherin expression by Western Blot with no significant alteration at E-cadherin levels ...

Insights into the Genome Sequence of Chromobacterium amazonense Isolated from a Tropical Freshwater Lake

open access: yesInternational Journal of Genomics, 2018
Members of the genus Chromobacterium have been isolated from geographically diverse ecosystems and exhibit considerable metabolic flexibility, as well as biotechnological and pathogenic properties in some species.

NMR AND KINETIC STUDIES ON AZURIN

open access: yes, 1982
Structural and kinetic aspects of azurin have been investigated with NMR and copper uptake kinetics. By using the nickel(II) derivative of azurin, two novel structural effects of azurin have been found. The geometry about the Ni(II) atom in Ni(II) azurin

Conformational heterogeneity of the copper binding site in azurin. A time-resolved fluorescence study

open access: yes, 1983
Comparison of the fluorescence spectra and the effect of temperature on the quantum yields of fluorescence of Azurin (from Pseudomonas fluorescens ATCC-13525–2) and 3-methylindole (in methylcyclohexane solution) provides substantive evidence that the ...
