CD28 interaction with B7 costimulates primary allogeneic proliferative responses and cytotoxicity mediated by small, resting T lymphocytes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Engagement of the CD3/T cell antigen receptor complex on small, resting T cells is insufficient to trigger cell-mediated cytotoxicity or to induce a proliferative response.

Computational Validation of Multi‐Epitope mRNA Vaccine Targeting Streptococcus anginosus Surface Protein (TMPC) as an Effective Alternative Treatment to Reduce Gastric Cancer

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 1, February 2026.
Design process for messenger RNA vaccines. Candidate proteins are initially screened using immunoinformatics, after which selected epitopes are assembled into a multi‐epitope vaccine. The vaccine construct was evaluated through molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulations, and in silico immune simulations, followed by population coverage analysis ...

Neuro‐Immune Crosstalk: Molecular Mechanisms, Biological Functions, Diseases, and Therapeutic Targets

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 2, February 2026.
Neurons, immune cells, and other cellular components within the disease microenvironment (such as stromal cells and tumor cells) constitute a dynamically evolving ecosystem. Neurons directly modulate immune cell activity and inflammatory responses through the release of neurotransmitters (e.g., norepinephrine and CGRP), while also promoting tumor ...

LAG‐3+ Regulatory T Cells Suppress Effector Function of T Cells and Allow Their Proliferation Into Regulatory T Cells

open access: yesImmunology, Volume 177, Issue 2, Page 317-328, February 2026.
LAG‐3+ regulatory T cells suppress the effector but not the proliferative response of naïve cognate antigen‐specific CD4+ T cells in vivo. The suppressed T cells display upregulation of immune checkpoints and downregulation of pro‐inflammatory pathways with enhanced TCR signaling and reduced oxidative metabolism.

T Cell Exhaustion in Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Substantial Barrier in Immunotherapy

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 30, Issue 3, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), accounting for over 90% of primary liver cancers, remains a major global challenge for healthcare professionals. While immunotherapy has transformed the landscape of cancer treatment, its success is often limited by immune resistance, particularly through T cell exhaustion which remains a major barrier to ...

HLA Class II Alleles Are Associated With Anti‐Drug Antibodies in Ulcerative Colitis Patients Treated With Etrolizumab

open access: yesHLA, Volume 107, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Patients treated with etrolizumab, a monoclonal antibody drug for ulcerative colitis, often develop anti‐drug antibodies (ADA) and neutralising antibodies (NAb). To investigate genetic risk factors, we evaluated associations between HLA alleles and ADA/NAb development. HLA‐DQB1*06:03 demonstrated the most significant association with both ADA (

Advances in T cell–based immunotherapy for osteosarcoma

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
Osteosarcoma, the most prevalent primary malignant bone tumor in children and adolescents, remains a formidable clinical challenge due to its high metastatic potential and limited therapeutic progress over the past three decades.

Machine learning-enhanced immunopeptidomics applied to T-cell epitope discovery for COVID-19 vaccines

open access: yesNature Communications
Next-generation T-cell-directed vaccines for COVID-19 focus on establishing lasting T-cell immunity against current and emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants. Precise identification of conserved T-cell epitopes is critical for designing effective vaccines.
