Complete amino acid sequence of a papain-solubilized human histocompatibility antigen, HLA-B7. 2. Sequence determination and search for homologies

Biochemistry, 1979
The complete amino acid sequence of the papain-solubilized heavy chain of a human histocompatibility antigen (HLA-B7) has been elucidated. It consists of a polypeptide of 271 residues (31 333 daltons). A single glycan moiety is attached to an asparagine residue at position 86 by an N-glycosidic bond.

Immunomodulatory effects of a plasmid expressing B7‐2 on human immunodeficiency virus‐1‐specific cell‐mediated immunity induced by a plasmid encoding the viral antigen

European Journal of Immunology, 1997
AbstractB7 co‐stimulation is essential for activating resting T cells following antigen recognition by the T cell receptor. To determine whether B7 has adjuvant activities on human immunodeficiency virus type‐1 (HIV‐1)‐specific immunity induced by inoculation of a plasmid encoding HIV‐1 env and rev (DNA vaccine), B7‐1 and B7‐2 expression plasmids were ...

Mechanism of enhanced antigen presentation by B cells activated with anti‐μ plus interferon‐γ: Role of B7‐2 in the activation of naive and memory CD4+ T cells

European Journal of Immunology, 1995
AbstractB cells activated with anti‐γ antibody plus interferon (IFN)‐γ exerted strong antigen presentation activity for T cell proliferation. The enhanced antigen presentation function was shown to be due to the increase in B7‐2 expression. When B cells were stimulated with anti‐μ, expression of MHC major histocompatibility complex class II, heat ...

Studies Using Antigen-Presenting Cells Lacking Expression of Both B7-1 (CD80) and B7-2 (CD86) Show Distinct Requirements for B7 Molecules During Priming Versus Restimulation of Th2 But Not Th1 Cytokine Production

The Journal of Immunology, 1998
AbstractThe differentiation of CD4+ T cells into a Th1 vs Th2 phenotype profoundly influences the outcome of autoimmune and infectious diseases. B7 costimulation has been shown to affect the production of both Th1 and Th2 cytokines, depending on the system studied.

Molecular cloning of the cDNAs encoding the feline B‐lymphocyte activation antigen B7–1 (CD80) and B7–2 (CD86) homologues which interact with human CTLA4‐Ig

European Journal of Immunogenetics, 2000
AbstractWe cloned the cDNAs encoding the feline homologues of B‐lymphocyte activation antigens B7–1 (CD80) and B7–2 (CD86). We expressed recombinant feline CD80 and CD86 molecules by the baculovirus expression system, and demonstrated their binding ability to human CTLA4‐murine immunoglobulin fusion protein.

B7-2+ Low Density APCS are as Effective as B7-2− Small Resting B Cells in Inducing Specific Unresponsiveness to Minor Histocompatibility (miH) Antigen(S) in Vivo

1997
Dendritic cells and small resting B cells are thought to be immunogenic and tolerogenic in the periphery, respectively, as dendritic cells but not resting B cells can provide costimulatory signal(s) (1–7). Fuchs and Matzinger demonstrated that resting B cells but not dendritic cells could induce tolerance to H-Y mismatched skin grafts (8).

Effect of Physical Stress on Immune Function in Cell Lines: B7-2 Molecules Contribute to Augmented Antigen Presentation Induced by Heat Shock

Tissue Engineering, 1998
T cell activation occurs following the recognition of MHC II–antigen complexes on antigen-presenting cells (APCs) and in conjunction with binding of costimulatory moleclues such as B7.

CD80 (B7-1) and CD86 (B7-2) antigens on house dust mite–specific T cells in atopic disease function through T-T cell interactions

Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 1999
CD80 (B7-1) and CD86 (B7-2) play an important role in antigen presentation to effector cells. Recent studies have demonstrated that these costimulatory molecules are also expressed on activated T cells. However, the functional role of CD80 and CD86 expressed on allergen-specific T cells in atopic diseases has not yet been clarified. We sought to ...

B7-2 expression on tumor cells is important for the acquisition of cytotoxic T lymphocyte activity by spleen cells from low-dose-melphalan-treated MOPC-315 tumor bearers via a mechanism that requires either B7-1 or B7-2 expression on host antigen-presenting cells

Cancer Immunology, Immunotherapy, 2000
We have previously shown that B7-2 (CD86) and, to a lesser extent, B7-1 (CD80) contribute to the curative effectiveness of low-dose melphalan (L-phenylalanine mustard) for mice bearing a large MOPC-315 tumor under conditions that lead to the acquisition of potent cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) activity at the tumor site. Since B7-1 and B7-2 are expressed
