Evaluation of Bacillus vallismortis (Bacillales: Bacillaceae) R2 as insecticidal agent against polyphagous pest Spodoptera litura (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) [PDF]

open access: yes3 Biotech, 2017
The insecticidal potential of cells and acid-precipitated biomolecules (APB) of Bacillus vallismortis (Roberts) (Bacillales: Bacillaceae) R2 was evaluated against polyphagous pest Spodoptera litura. The intact cells of isolate R2 and its APB preparation significantly increased larval mortality.

Prediction and validation of novel SigB regulon members in Bacillus subtilis and regulon structure comparison to Bacillales members

open access: yesBMC Microbiology, 2023
Abstract Background Sigma factor B (SigB) is the central regulator of the general stress response in Bacillus subtilis and regulates a group of genes in response to various stressors, known as the SigB regulon members.

Identification by molecular techniques of halophilic bacteria producing important enzymes from pristine area in Campeche, Mexico

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology, 2021
Isla Arena is located in the coordinate 20° 70´ N - 90° 45´ W, from Campeche, Mexico. In these estuaries, the ocean mixes with fresh water, and ecosystems are concentrated where petenes and pink flamingos proliferate.

Oral and Gut Microbiota Dysbiosis in Patients With Ventilator‐Associated Pneumonia

open access: yesCritical Care Research and Practice, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background Ventilator‐associated pneumonia (VAP) is a serious complication in critically ill patients. This study aimed to explore the association between alterations in the composition and diversity of oral and gut microbiota and VAP onset. Methods This prospective observational pilot study enrolled adult patients undergoing mechanical ventilation in ...

Effects of midgut bacteria inHyphantria cunea(Lepidoptera: Erebidae) on nuclear polyhedrosis virus andBacillus thuringiensis(Bacillales: Bacillaceae)

open access: yesJournal of Insect Science, 2023
AbstractHyphantria cunea Drury (Lepidoptera: Erebidae) is a quarantine pest in China that can cause damage to hundreds of plants. As biological control agents, Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus (NPV) and Bacillus thuringiensis Berliner (Bacillales: Bacillaceae) (Bt) are commonly used to inhibit the prevalence of H. cunea.

Wildfire impact : natural experiment reveals differential short-term changes in soil microbial communities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A wildfire which overran a sensor network site provided an opportunity (a natural experiment) to monitor short-term post-fire impacts (immediate and up to three months post-fire) in remnant eucalypt woodland and managed pasture plots.

Development of microbial community in the course of composting of garden waste

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2012
Composting represents one of the technologies of processing of biodegradable municipal waste. Samples collected from composting plants were analyzed chemically, physically and microbiologically. The pH of bio waste samples increased from 6.5 to 8.6.

Characterisation of Arctic Bacterial Communities in the Air above Svalbard [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Atmospheric dispersal of bacteria is increasingly acknowledged as an important factor influencing bacterial community biodiversity, biogeography and bacteria-human interactions, including those linked to human health. However, knowledge about patterns in

Sinococcus qinghaiensis gen. nov., sp. nov., a novel member of the order Bacillales from a saline soil in China [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, 2006
A Gram-positive, non-spore-forming isolate, designated YIM 70212T, was isolated from a hypersaline soil sample collected from Qinghai, north-west China. Cells of the isolate were orange-pigmented, motile cocci with multiple flagella. A polyphasic taxonomic investigation was carried out on the isolate. The organism grew at 10–45 °C and pH 7.5–11.0, with
