Biosynthesis of silver nanocrystals by Bacillus licheniformis

Colloids and Surfaces B: Biointerfaces, 2008
The use of microorganisms for the synthesis of nanoparticles is in the limelight of modern nanotechnology. Using the bacterium Bacillus licheniformis, the biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles was investigated. These silver nanoparticles were characterized by means of UV-vis spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electron diffraction ...

Purification and characterization of phosphofructokinase of Bacillus licheniformis

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1973
Abstract The phosphofructokinase (PFK) of Bacillus licheniformis was purified about 50–65-fold and examined for a number of enzymatic and physical characteristics. The enzyme is quite unstable under normal assay conditions, but Mg 2+ , K + , adenosine-5′-diphosphate, phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP), and fructose-6-phosphate (fru-6-P) are fairly effective

Multiple proteolytic enzymes of Bacillus licheniformis

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1966
Abstract By the use of synthetic substrates, organofluoride inhibitors, and heat denaturation, three types of proteolytic enzymes were identified in culture filtrates of Bacillus licheniformis . The proteinases detected were (i) an enzyme with high activity toward N -acetyl- l -tyrosine ethyl ester (ATEE) and toward proteins, highly susceptible to ...

Generation and Comparison of Bioluminescent and Fluorescent Bacillus licheniformis

Current Microbiology, 2008
The environmental bacterium Bacillus licheniformis was transformed with two different shuttle-vectors (pCSS810 and pGFPratiometric) containing insect luciferase and green fluorescent protein genes, respectively. The cells were treated with various antimicrobial agents and the emitted bioluminescence and fluorescence were measured. Plasmid harboring the

[Denitrification by Bacillus licheniformis].

Canadian journal of microbiology, 1979
The denitrifying capacity of 15 strains of Bacillus licheniformis was evaluated. In general, N2 production by the cultures on complex media containing NO3- is irregular and quite slow and three of the strains never produce gas. Bacillus licheniformis grows rapidly in anaerobiosis on peptone medium containing NO3- which is reduced to NO2-.

Tannase production by Bacillus licheniformis

Biotechnology Letters, 2000
Bacillus licheniformis KBR 6 produced maximum extracellular tannase activity at 0.21 U ml−1 with 1.5% (w/v) tannic acid either in the absence or presence of glucose (1 g l−1) after 18–21 h growth though the organism did not attain maximum growth until 36 h.

Dihydrodipicolinic acid synthase of Bacillus licheniformis

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Enzymology, 1969
Abstract Dihydrodipicolinate synthase from Bacillus licheniformis was purified approx. 200-fold from that present in initial cell-free extracts. No cofactors were found to be required for activity. Sigmoid pyruvate-dihydrodipicolinate synthase saturation curves were obtained suggesting pyruvate site cooperativity.

Toxinogenic Bacillus pumilus and Bacillus licheniformis from mastitic milk

Veterinary Microbiology, 2007
To elucidate the occurrence of heat-stable toxin-producing strains among mastitic Bacillus isolates, 100 milk samples of mastitic cows from different parts of Finland were screened. Bacillus was identified as the major organism in 23 samples. Toxinogenic Bacillus isolates identified by sperm cell motility inhibition assay were isolated from six samples.
