Bacterial infection in scarring trachoma. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
PURPOSE: To assess whether non-chlamydial bacterial infection is associated with trachomatous scarring in adults. METHODS: This was a case-control study of 360 cases with trachomatous scarring but without trichiasis, and 360 controls without scarring ...

Keeping time on the plant-pathogen arms race : a role for the plant circadian clock in immune response [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this study, Arabidopsis thaliana (Arabidopsis) in the Columbia-0 (Col-0) background showed time-of-day variation in susceptibility to the plant-pathogen Pseudomonas syringae DC3000 pathovar tomato (P.

Bacterial pathogens and the autophagic response [PDF]

open access: yesCellular Microbiology, 2010
The host cell recognition and removal of invading pathogens are crucial for the control of microbial infections. However, several microorganisms have developed mechanisms that allow them to survive and replicate intracellularly. Autophagy is an ubiquitous physiological pathway in eukaryotic cells, which maintains the cellular homeostasis and acts as a ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Detection of Leaf Blight Bacterial Pathogen on Seeds Culture Media, and Water Sources of Acacia crassicarpa [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Initial inoculum of pathogen around its hosts is one of the factors that disease epidemic to be hqppened'. Because of that research aimed to detect population of leaf blight bacterial pathogen on seeds, culture media, and water sources of A.

Predicting antimicrobial resistance of bacterial pathogens using time series analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2023
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is arguably one of the major health and economic challenges in our society. A key aspect of tackling AMR is rapid and accurate detection of the emergence and spread of AMR in food animal production, which requires routine ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Characterization of the rcsA Gene from Pantoea sp. Strain PPE7 and Its Influence on Extracellular Polysaccharide Production and Virulence on Pleurotus eryngii

open access: yesThe Plant Pathology Journal, 2017
RcsA is a positive activator of extracellular polysaccharide (EPS) synthesis in the Enterobacteriaceae. The rcsA gene of the soft rot pathogen Pantoea sp. strain PPE7 in Pleurotus eryngii was cloned by PCR amplification, and its role in EPS synthesis and
