A mitochondria‐mimicking ATP generator improves the enzyme instability of enzyme‐based artificial mitochondria and eliminates the toxicity of H2O2 via quantitative enzyme co‐compartmentalization. The resulting artificial mitochondria can establish a sustained proton gradient for ATP synthesis.

One Dimensional Metal Oxide Semiconductor Nanotransistors
This review assesses one dimensional metal oxide NW‐FETs as promising alternatives to conventional transistors. It explores how advances in architecture, material composition, and fabrication processes expand device capabilities. Emphasis is placed on novel gate configurations, different metal oxide nanowires, and post‐treatment methods, which ...

Protein structural change at the cytoplasmic surface as the cause of cooperativity in the bacteriorhodopsin photocycle [PDF]
The effects of excitation light intensity on the kinetics of the bacteriorhodopsin photocycle were investigated. The earlier reported intensity-dependent changes at 410 and 570 nm are explained by parallel increases in two of the rate constants, for ...

Abstract Continental shelf ecosystems support diverse phytoplankton communities that contribute to global primary productivity. Iron is an important micronutrient controlling the growth of marine phytoplankton, but its role in influencing phytoplankton ecophysiology in western boundary continental shelf ecosystems is understudied.

Flippase‐Mediated Hybrid Vesicle Division
The successful reconstitution of Drs2p–Cdc50p flippase in small and giant polymer lipid hybrid vesicles is illustrated. The hybrid vesicles show adenosine 5′‐triphosphate consumption and flipping of 2‐dioleoyl‐sn‐glycero‐3‐phospho‐l‐serine lipids from the inner to the outer leaflet.

Opsins are phospholipid scramblases in all domains of life
Opsins are highly abundant retinal proteins in the membranes of photoheterotrophic bacteria. However, some microbial genomes encode an opsin but lack the gene for the final enzyme in retinal synthesis.
