Responses of Fruit Flies (Diptera: Tephritidae) to Protein Bait Applied at Different Densities
ABSTRACT The effectiveness of odour‐based lures for insects is related to their active space, the air volume around an odour source in which an insect will detect and move towards it. This principle applies to protein baits laced with toxicants that are used as either sprays or stations to suppress pest fruit fly populations.

Baker's Yeast reduction of 4-hetero-2-(2-nitroethyl)cyclohexanones
Baker's yeast reduction of 3-(2-nitroethyl)-tetrahydro-4H-pyran-4-one 10 and 3-(2-nitroethyl)-tetrahydro-4H-thiopyran-4-one 11 gave the corresponding optically active cis alcohols with good diastereo- and enantioselectivity.

ABSTRACT Field trials were conducted of wheat (Triticum aestivum) cv. Cadenza in which asparagine synthetase gene, TaASN2, had been knocked out, either on its own or together with a partial knockout of the related gene, TaASN1, using CRISPR/Cas9. Chemical mutagenesis (TILLING) TaASN2 nulls in the Claire background were also included.

ABSTRACT Near‐infrared (NIR) spectroscopy combined with ANOVA–simultaneous component analysis (ASCA) provides a powerful approach for investigating sourdough fermentation. Two complementary longitudinal experiments (repeated four times) were conducted to evaluate the influence of key design factors on sourdough development over a 28‐day refreshment ...

The Wonders of Vanilla: Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of Synthetic Vanillin
The year 2024 marked the 150th anniversary of the first commercial production of vanillin, one of the world's most cherished flavor ingredients. This review traces vanilla's history from Mesoamerica to modern production methods, examines its composition, the discovery of vanillin and Haarmann's early synthesis compared to modern methods, and highlights

Baker's yeast reduction of alpha-methyleneketones
The bioreduction of alpha -methyleneketones. (RC)-C-1(-O)C(-CH2)R-2 (R-1= Me, Et, Pr, iso-Bu, Ph. CH2CH2Ph: R-2 =Cl, Me, Et, n-Pr, iso-Pr. n-Bu, n-C6H13, Ph, CH2Ph), was mediated by baker's yeast (Saccharomyees cerevisiae) to obtain the corresponding ...
