Efficient Implementation of Ternary SDM Filters using State-of-the-Art FPGA [PDF]

open access: yesMehran University Research Journal of Engineering and Technology, 2011
We present the analysis of a ternary FIR filter at varying OSR (Over Sampling Ratios). The sigma delta modulated ternary filter impulse responses obtained using Matlab at varying OSRs show that each doubling of OSR results in an increase of 10dB in the

Enhanced piezoelectric properties and thermal stability of Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 modified BiFeO3BaTiO3 ceramics with morphotropic phase boundary

open access: yesJournal of Materiomics, 2023
Morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) plays a key role in tuning piezoelectric responses of ferroelectric ceramics. Here, Bi0·5Na0·5TiO3 modified BiFeO3BaTiO3 ternary solid solutions of 0.7BiFeO3-(0.3-x)BaTiO3-xBi0.5Na0·5TiO3 (referred to as BF-BT-xBNT, 0 ...

Efficient Decompression of Binary Encoded Balanced Ternary Sequences [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) Systems, 2019
A balanced ternary digit, known as a trit, takes its values in {−1, 0, 1}. It can be encoded in binary as {11, 00, 01} for the direct use in digital circuits. In this brief, we study the decompression of a sequence of bits into a sequence of binary encoded balanced ternary digits.

Mechanisms of High Temperature Degradation of Thermal Barrier Coatings. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) are crucial for increasing the turbine inlet temperature (and hence efficiency) of gas turbine engines. The thesis describes PhD research aimed at improving understanding of the thermal cycling failure mechanisms of ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Multiplexed neurochemical transmission emulated using a dual-excitatory synaptic transistor

open access: yesnpj 2D Materials and Applications, 2021
The ability to emulate multiplexed neurochemical transmission is an important step toward mimicking complex brain activities. Glutamate and dopamine are neurotransmitters that regulate thinking and impulse signals independently or synergistically ...

On the optimality of ternary arithmetic for compactness and hardware design

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, the optimality of ternary arithmetic is investigated under strict mathematical formulation. The arithmetic systems are presented in generic form, as the means to encode numeric values, and the choice of radix is asserted as the main ...

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Thermal characteristics of InGaN-based green micro-LEDs

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
We have investigated the thermal characteristics of InGaN-based green micro-light-emitting diodes (micro-LEDs) without the passivation layer in a wide junction temperature range of 298–453 K.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.
