Towards a balanced ternary FPGA

open access: yes, 2009
We propose and analyze an organization for a Field-Programmable Gate Array structure that operates using a balanced ternary logic system where the logic set {±1, 0} maps directly to equivalent voltage levels {±1.0V, 0.0V}.

Beyond 0 and 1: A mixed radix design and verification workflow for modern ternary computers [PDF]

open access: yes
For more than 80 years digital computers use the radix-2 or binary computer alphabet as their lowest symbolic and physical representation. This doctrine of computing is presumed in every modern computer.

Aquaporin‐3 and aquaporin‐5 impact the development of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma spheroids

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of the role of aquaporin‐3 (AQP3) and aquaporin‐5 (AQP5) in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Both proteins are upregulated in PDAC and are associated with tumor progression and metastatic potential. Silencing AQP3 or AQP5 in PDAC spheroids results in decreased diameter, area, and overall growth, underscoring their key ...

Exploration of Ternary Logic Using T-CMOS for Circuit-Level Design

open access: yes, 2023
The predicted end of scaling and the exponential increase of user data in the era of the connected world are asking whether the current binary systems in CMOS can successfully provide solutions to the expected challenges.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

The Multi‐Functional Third Acceptor Realizes the Synergistic Improvement in Photovoltaic Parameters and the High‐Ratio Tolerance of Ternary Organic Photovoltaics

open access: yesAdvanced Science
The ternary strategy proves effective for breakthroughs in organic photovoltaics (OPVs). Elevating three photovoltaic parameters synergistically, especially the proportion‐insensitive third component, is crucial for efficient ternary devices.

Nonvolatile Balanced Ternary Memory Based on The Multiferroelectric Material GeSnTe2

open access: yes, 2019
Modern computer technology is based on the binary logic system. However, the slowdown of its development calls for transition to multivalued logic (MVL) systems. MVL can yield a denser logic implementation on the same chip area at low cost.

Cracking the Code: Genotype–Phenotype Correlation Models in Sarcoglycanopathies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Sarcoglycanopathies are among the most severe limb‐girdle muscular dystrophies (LGMD), though milder presentations have been described. These diseases are primarily caused by missense variants, but the limited predictability of their effect on protein maturation, complex formation, and transport has hindered reliable genotype ...

Coupling effects of drip irrigation frequency and nitrogen rate on the growth, development, and economic benefits of Sea Island cotton in Southern Xinjiang

open access: yesAgricultural Water Management
Inefficient water and nitrogen management significantly constrains the yield potential of Sea Island cotton in arid regions. Field experiments in southern Xinjiang, China (2022–2023) evaluated the interactive effects of irrigation frequency (F5, F7, and ...
