Ternary Toward Binary: Circuit-Level Implementation of Ternary Logic Using Depletion-Mode and Conventional MOSFETs

open access: yesIEEE Access
The application of artificial intelligence (AI) requires advanced computation to address complex problems. However, the improvement of binary computing systems supporting these applications is approaching their limits due to atomic-level scaling ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Unlocking The Potential of Balanced Ternary Chips: A Paradigm Shift in Computing

open access: yesHighlights in Science Engineering and Technology
The current landscape of digital computing predominantly relies on the binary system, limited to representing information using only 0 and 1. Nevertheless, the relentless progression in chip design and manufacturing technology has pushed traditional ...

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Anaerobic Co-Digestion of Swine Wastewater, Cheese Whey and Organic Waste: Performance Optimization Through Mixture Design

open access: yesBiomass
Anaerobic co-digestion of agro-industrial and municipal biowastes can enhance methane production, but the optimal mixture depends on nonlinear interactions among substrates.

Symmetric balanced ternary designs with ϱ1 = 1 or 2

open access: yesAequationes Mathematicae, 1994
A balanced ternary design is a collection of blocks containing various points 0, 1 or 2 times and such that the size of the blocks and the number of occurrences of any point or any pair of distinct points simultaneously in the same block are constants.

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Strength through diversity: how cancers thrive when clones cooperate

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumor heterogeneity can offer direct benefits to the tumor through cooperation between different clones. In this review, Kuiken et al. discuss existing evidence for clonal cooperativity to identify overarching principles, and highlight how novel technological developments could address remaining open questions.

A family of balanced ternary designs with block size four [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Australian Mathematical Society, 1986
This paper shows the existence of an infinite family of cyclic balanced ternary designs where the block size is 4, the index 2 and each block contains precisely one repeated element.
