Trapping the banana weevil, Cosmopolites sordidus, Germar: a mathematical perspective
Paper presented at the 5th Strathmore International Mathematics Conference (SIMC 2019), 12 - 16 August 2019, Strathmore University, Nairobi, Kenya A logistic equation incorporating trapping is formulated and parameterized to represent the population dynamics of the banana weevil, Cosmopolites Sordidus, (Germar). The steady states are obtained and their

Banana weevil borer (Cosmopolites sordidus) : plant defense responses and control options
Each year 25-75% of banana yields are lost to Cosmopolites sordidus, one of the major pests of banana/plantain plants. This loss is common with resource-limited farmers who cannot afford the frequent application of insecticides due to their cost and developed resistance by weevils.

Biological control of invasive plant species: stochastic economic analysis [PDF]
We analysed to what extent the stochastic effects of two biological control agents (i.e. weevils and mycoherbicides) affect the optimal choice of Californian thistle control.
