Membrane Localization Is Critical for Activation of the PICK1 BAR Domain [PDF]
The PSD‐95/Discs‐large/ZO‐1 homology (PDZ) domain protein, protein interacting with C kinase 1 (PICK1) contains a C‐terminal Bin/amphiphysin/Rvs (BAR) domain mediating recognition of curved membranes; however, the molecular mechanisms controlling the activity of this domain are poorly understood. In agreement with negative regulation of the BAR domain

BAR domains and membrane curvature: bringing your curves to the BAR.
Biochemical Society Symposia, 2005BAR (bin, amphiphysin and Rvs161/167) domains are a unique class of dimerization domains, whose dimerization interface is edged by a membrane-binding surface. In its dimeric form, the membrane-binding interface is concave, and this gives the ability to bind better to curved membranes, i.e. to sense membrane curvature.

I-BAR domains, IRSp53 and filopodium formation
Seminars in Cell & Developmental Biology, 2010Filopodia and lamellipodia are dynamic actin-based structures that determine cell shape and migration. Filopodia are thought to sense the environment and direct processes such as axon guidance and neurite outgrowth. Cdc42 is a small GTP-binding protein and member of the RhoGTPase family.

Structural Characteristics of BAR Domain Superfamily to Sculpt the Membrane
Seminars in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2010Membrane dynamics is an essential process for cell locomotion, cytokinesis, vesicular transport and organelle morphogenesis. Formation of tubes or buds from a nearly flat membrane is a widely spread feature of the membrane shape changes. The BAR (Bin/Amphiphysin/Rvs-homology) domain dimers exhibit long extended curved shapes and appear to be ...

$$ \bar{\partial } $$ and $$ {\bar{\partial }_b} $$ Problems on Nonsmooth Domains
1999In this survey article we want to describe our method for constructing barriers on weakly pseudoconvex domains with smooth boundaries and give some applications to nonsmooth pseudoconvex domains. We also consider annuli of a very general type which are difference sets of a large piecewise smooth pseudoconvex domain with a union of piecewise smooth ...

$$\bar \partial $$ -problem on weaklyq-convex domains
Mathematische Annalen, 1991We deal with a class of domains that we call weakly q-convex. These domains are generalizations of pseudoconvex domains. We show that we can solve the \({\bar \partial}\)-equation on weakly-\(q\)-convex domains on \((p,r)\)-forms for \(r\geq q\). We also show that we can prove other statements related to \({\bar \partial}\) in weakly \(q\)-convex ...

Dynamic origin of stripe domains in cobalt bars
Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2007Based on dynamical calculations, we theoretically study the nucleation of stripe domains in single-crystal Co bars. Three different stripe domain structures at remanence are obtained in micromagnetic simulations depending on different field histories. We show that the nucleation of all three stripe domains are related to soft mode instabilities.

The domain structure of thin-film permalloy bars
Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 1990Abstract The conditions of stable existence of the domain structure in thin film permalloy strips are theoretically investigated. The intervals of the uniaxial magnetic anisotropy field and external magnetic field, inside which the domain structure is stable, are found.
