Chloroplast transformation of Platymonas (Tetraselmis) subcordiformis with the bar gene as selectable marker. [PDF]
The objective of this research was to establish a chloroplast transformation technique for Platymonas (Tetraselmis) subcordiformis. Employing the gfp gene as a reporter and the bar gene as a selectable marker, transformation vectors of P.

Characterization of the herbicide-resistance gene bar from Streptomyces hygroscopicus [PDF]
A gene which confers resistance to the herbicide bialaphos (bar) has been characterized. The bar gene was originally cloned from Streptomyces hygroscopicus, an organism which produces the tripeptide bialaphos as a secondary metabolite. Bialaphos contains phosphinothricin, an analogue of glutamate which is an inhibitor of glutamine synthetase.

BAR-Seq clonal tracking of gene-edited cells [PDF]
Gene editing by engineered nucleases has revolutionized the field of gene therapy by enabling targeted and precise modification of the genome. However, the limited availability of methods for clonal tracking of edited cells has resulted in a paucity of information on the diversity, abundance and behavior of engineered clones.

Production of EPSPS and bar gene double-herbicide resistant castor (Ricinus communis L.)
Castor (Ricinus communis L.) is one of the world's top ten oil crops. China is the second largest producer of castor beans, but China's castor bean acreage has been declining. A principal reason for this decline is the prevalence of weeds and the absence

First de novo whole genome sequencing and assembly of the bar-headed goose [PDF]
Background The bar-headed goose (Anser indicus) mainly inhabits the plateau wetlands of Asia. As a specialized high-altitude species, bar-headed geese can migrate between South and Central Asia and annually fly twice over the Himalayan mountains along ...

A gene expression bar code for microarray data [PDF]
The ability to measure genome-wide expression holds great promise for characterizing cells and distinguishing diseased from normal tissues. Thus far, microarray technology has been useful only for measuring relative expression between two or more samples, which has handicapped its ability to classify tissue types.

Gene flow from transgenic common beans expressing the bar gene [PDF]
Gene flow is a common phenomenon even in self-pollinated plant species. With the advent of genetically modified plants this subject has become of the utmost importance due to the need for controlling the spread of transgenes. This study was conducted to determine the occurrence and intensity of outcrossing in transgenic common beans.
