DETECTION OF BARCHAN DUNES IN HIGH RESOLUTION SATELLITE IMAGES [PDF]
Barchan dunes are the fastest moving sand dunes in the desert. We developed a process to detect barchans dunes on High resolution satellite images. It consisted of three steps, we first enhanced the image using histogram equalization and noise reduction ...

The role of stereographic studies on the orientation of Suran`s barchans migration risk in Baluchestan [PDF]
The sand dunes of the study area are located downstream of Routack watershed, 40 km west of Saravan city (Baluchestan province, Iran) and in the northern margin of the agricultural lands of the region. Wind velocity data (direction and speed) of Saravan,

DETECTION OF CRESCENT SAND DUNES CONTOURS IN SATELLITE IMAGES USING AN ACTIVE SHAPE MODEL WITH A CASCADE CLASSIFIER [PDF]
Crescent sand dunes called barchans are the fastest moving sand dunes in the desert, causing disturbance for infrastructure and threatening human settlements.

Understanding snow bedform formation by adding sintering to a cellular automata model [PDF]
Cellular-automata-based modelling for simulating snow bedforms and snow deposition is introduced in this study. The well-known ReSCAL model, previously used for sand bedforms, is adapted for this purpose by implementing a simple sintering mechanism.

A Simple Agent‐Based Model That Reproduces All Types of Barchan Interactions
We introduce a novel agent‐based model for simulating interactions between migrating barchan dunes. A new two‐flank representation of barchans allows modeling of bedform asymmetries that are intrinsic to collision dynamics but have not been explored ...

“Barchan” dunes in the lab [PDF]
We demonstrate the feasibility of studying dunes in a laboratory experiment. It is shown that an initial sand pile, under a wind flow carrying sand, flattens and gets a shape recalling barchan dunes. An evolution law is proposed for the profile and the summit of the dune. The dune dynamics is shown to be shape invariant.

Analysis of Barchan morphology in the west of Loot desert using morphometric features [PDF]
In this article, we analyzed the morphology of barchans (crescentic sand dunes) using morphometric features of seven components of this landform in the west of the Loot desert near Pashoeyeh village. The components were height, width, length of the right

Dynamic Evaluation of Barchans in Band-e-Rig Kashan in the Period 2013 to 2019 [PDF]
IntroductionWind erosion and the formation of sand dunes are common phenomena in many arid regions around the world. More than 100 types of sand dunes have been classified by geomorphologists based on shape and size criteria (Lancaster, 1995). One of the

Experimental data on binary interactions of subaqueous barchans
This is part of the data concerning experiments on binary interactions of subaqueous barchans. In this dataset, you find animated movies and images for each pattern observed during lab experiments, and lists containing all tests performed on both ...
