A 212-nt long RNA structure in the Tobacco necrosis virus-D RNA genome is resistant to Xrn degradation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Plus-strand RNA viruses can accumulate viral RNA degradation products during infections. Some of these decay intermediates are generated by the cytosolic 5′-to-3′ exoribonuclease Xrn1 (mammals and yeast) or Xrn4 (plants) and are formed when the enzyme ...

Cover Crops and Flower Strip Plants as Potential Hosts for Sugar Beet‐Infecting Virus Yellows Species and Their Attractiveness to the Vector Myzus persicae

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
Several common cover crops and flower strip plants are susceptible to BMYV, while susceptibility and attractiveness to Myzus persicae vary widely. These plants may act as virus reservoirs, emphasising the need to prevent green bridges. ABSTRACT Virus yellows (VY), caused by beet chlorosis virus (BChV), beet mild yellowing virus (BMYV) and beet yellows ...

A Survey of Viral Diseases of Proso Millet (Panicum miliaceum L.) and Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) in South Korea

open access: yesResearch in Plant Disease, 2017
Throughout year 2015 to 2016, 101 proso millet and 200 sorghum samples were collected from five provinces in South Korea. The samples were subjected to paired-end RNA sequencing and further analyzed by RT-PCR.

Grain yield reductions in spring barley due to barley yellow dwarf virus and aphid feeding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
peer-reviewedThe occurrence and control of barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) in spring barley was investigated, at Oak Park, in the periods 1990 to 1993 and 1996 to 2001.

Serodetection of viruses associated to barley yellow dwarf (BYD) on cereals in Algeria [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999

RING‐Between‐RING‐Type E3 Ligase Ariadne‐Like Protein 8 Negatively Regulates Plant Virus Infection by Targeting a Viral Movement Protein

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 44, November 27, 2025.
The plant RING‐between‐RING (RBR)‐type E3 ligase, Ariadne‐like protein 8 (ARI8), ubiquitinates and degrades a viral movement protein, restricting virus spread. ARI8 also inhibits other triple gene block 1 (TGB1)‐containing viruses, revealing a broad‐spectrum antiviral role.

Improving Barley for Organic Producers: What Do Organic Producers Want? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Researchers surveyed organic barley producers in order to find out how many acres they are growing, what varieties they grow, what markets they are growing barley for, whether they receive a price premium for organic barley, whether they are growing or ...

Toward the application of artificial intelligence (AI) proteomics in the agriculture

open access: yesCrop Science, Volume 65, Issue 6, November/December 2025.
Abstract Proteomics enables the comprehensive analysis of proteins that drive cells and is thus the ultimate method for profiling biological systems. However, proteomics analyses are time‐consuming and expensive, which has limited their applications to basic science and advanced medical research.

Barley yellow dwarf virus in barley crops in Tunisia: prevalence and molecular characterization

open access: yesPhytopathologia Mediterranea, 2017
A field survey was conducted in Tunisia in the North-Eastern regions (Bizerte, CapBon and Zaghouan), the North-Western region (Kef) and the Central-Eastern region (Kairouan) during the 2011/2012 growing season, in order to determine the incidence and the

Pliant pathogens: Estimating viral spread when confronted with new vector, host, and environmental conditions

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2021
Pathogen spread rates are determined, in part, by the performance of pathogens under altered environmental conditions and their ability to persist while switching among hosts and vectors.
