Cometabolic biotransformation of benzotriazole in nitrifying batch cultures

Chemosphere, 2021
Benzotriazole (BT) is a corrosion inhibitor widely distributed in aquatic environments. Little is known about the cometabolic capacity of stabilized nitrifying sludge to biotransform BT. The contribution of the nitrification process in the simultaneous oxidation of ammonium and biotransformation of BT (5 mg/L) was evaluated in 49 d batch cultures ...

MODEL FORMULATION FOR HYBRIDOMA CULTURES IN BATCH AND FED-BATCH MODE

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2007
Abstract Metabolic Flux Analysis was performed to identify the significant metabolic reactions for hybridoma cells during batch and fed-batch culture. Correlation analysis yielded the factors that influence biomass growth and productivity and elucidated the nature of the relationship between them.

Production of scleroglucan by Sclerotium glucanicum in batch and supplemented batch cultures

Enzyme and Microbial Technology, 1994
Abstract The effect of initial N and C source concentrations upon formation of scleroglucan from Sclerotium glucanicum was examined in batch cultures. Increasing the initial N source concentration led to an increased cell mass at the expense of scleroglucan.

Production of actinorhodin by Streptomyces coelicolor in batch and fed-batch cultures

Process Biochemistry, 1997
Abstract Fed-batch fermentations of Streptomyces coelicolor in chemically defined medium in a 20 litre bioreactor were used to produce actinorhodin. Concentrated solutions of phosphate and nitrate with or without glucose were fed intermittently or continuously.

Batch‐ and continuous‐culture studies of a methane‐utilizing mixed culture

Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 1980
AbstractA methane‐utilizing mixed culture isolated from activated sludge by selective enrichment at 45°C was found to consist of three interacting species: a methaneutilizing bacterium, a citrate‐utilizing bacterium, and a methanol‐utilizing bacterium. All three species grew well at 45°C.

High cell density mixotrophic culture of Spirulina platensis on glucose for phycocyanin production using a fed-batch system

open access: yesEnzyme and Microbial Technology, 1997
A mixotrophic culture might be used as an alternative to conventional photoautotrophic mass culture systems for production of high value chemicals and pharmaceutical by Spirulina platensis.

An analysis of extended and exponentially‐fed‐batch cultures

Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 1977
AbstractUnder certain conditions it is shown that an extended culture is equivalent to an exponentially‐fed‐batch culture, that an exponentially‐fed‐batch culture (and an extended culture) can be maintained at a steady state and that an exponentially‐fed‐batch culture may be mimicked by a continuous‐flow culture with a constant dilution rate ...

On characterization of the growth of Escherichia coli in batch culture

Archives of Microbiology, 1983
Several growth monitoring parameters, including adenine nucleotide contents, were measured during Escherichia coli K12 batch cultivation in mineral medium with glucose. The adenylate energy charge with its mean value of 0.83 remained roughly stable during growth.

Production of gramicidin S in batch and continuous culture

Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 1971
AbstractA mathematical model for the production of gramicidin S in batch and continuous culture is proposed. It is based on the division of the age of a cell into two phases—an immature and a mature one. A nongrowth associated product, such as an antibiotic, is assumed to be produced when the organism is in the older of these two phases, the mature ...
