Bax-immunohistochemical staining of kidney section of rats.
Kidney sections of normal rats (a) showing no immune-reactive cells, PDC-treated group (b) showing diffuse intensely stained glomerular and renal tubular immune-reactive cells, PDC-Lf (200 mg/kg) treated rats (c) showing faintly stained immune-reactive ...

Mitochondrial Fusion: Bax to the Fussure [PDF]
Mitochondria can be organized into highly interconnected networks through continuous cycles of fission and fusion. A recent study by Hoppins et al. (2011) published in Molecular Cell now suggests that Bax, more commonly known for its role in apoptosis, can promote mitochondrial fusion in a Mitofusin 2-dependent manner.

Distinct promoter elements mediate the co-operative effect of Brn-3a and p53 on the p21 promoter and their antagonism on the Bax promoter [PDF]
Although the promoters of both the Bax and p21 genes are activated by p53, they differ in the effect on this activation of the POU family transcription factor Brn-3a. Thus, Brn-3a inhibits activation of the Bax promoter by p53 but enhances the ability of

Cancer-Associated BCL-2 Mutants Reveal Mechanisms Towards Venetoclax Resistance. [PDF]
Venetoclax (VEN) resistance in chronic lymphocytic leukemia arises from diverse BCL2 mutations. We map mechanisms contributing to VEN resistance across common BCL‐2 variants. G101V and D103Y reduce drug binding and increase sequestration of pro‐apoptotic proteins. V156D blocks VEN allosterically.

Malformin A1–mediated cytotoxicity in ovarian cancer cells occurs through pyroptosis and autophagy
This study investigated the effects of the natural compound Malformin A1 (MA1) on the cytoskeleton that regulates cell proliferation and migration. Disruption of the cytoskeleton can impair these processes and promote cancer cell death. MA1 disrupted cytoskeletal organization, induced DNA damage, inflammation, activated autophagy, and pyroptosis ...
