Optimizing future dark energy surveys for model selection goals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We demonstrate a methodology for optimizing the ability of future dark energy surveys to answer model selection questions, such as `Is acceleration due to a cosmological constant or a dynamical dark energy model?'.

Bayes Model Selection with Path Sampling: Factor Models and Other Examples

open access: yes, 2013
We prove a theorem justifying the regularity conditions which are needed for Path Sampling in Factor Models. We then show that the remaining ingredient, namely, MCMC for calculating the integrand at each point in the path, may be seriously flawed ...

Comparative Analysis of Certainty Factor Method and Bayes Probability Method on ENT Disease Expert System

open access: yesScientific Journal of Informatics, 2018
Expert system is computer programs that mimic the thought process and expert knowledge in solving a particular problem. Basically, an expert system has various methods to diagnose various kinds of diseases experienced by humans, animals, and plants. This

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Implementasi Naives Bayes-Certainty Factor untuk Diagnosa Penyakit Menular

open access: yesJurnal Sisfokom, 2020
One type of pet is Chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus). Chickens are the result of the domestication of red jungle fowl (Gallus gallus) which is most commonly kept throughout the world. These animals include animals that are easily maintained because they

Bayes factors in complex genetics [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Human Genetics, 2010
The past few years have seen tremendous progress in our understanding of the genetics underlying complex disease, with associated variants being identified in dozens of traits. Despite the fact that this growing body of empirical evidence unequivocally shows the necessity for extreme levels of significance and large samples sizes, the reasoning behind ...

Bayes factors for peri-null hypotheses

open access: yesTEST, 2022
AbstractA perennial objection against Bayes factor point-null hypothesis tests is that the point-null hypothesis is known to be false from the outset. We examine the consequences of approximating the sharp point-null hypothesis by a hazy ‘peri-null’ hypothesis instantiated as a narrow prior distribution centered on the point of interest.

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

Testing general relativity with compact coalescing binaries: comparing exact and predictive methods to compute the Bayes factor

open access: yes, 2014
The second generation of gravitational-wave detectors is scheduled to start operations in 2015. Gravitational-wave signatures of compact binary coalescences could be used to accurately test the strong-field dynamical predictions of general relativity ...
