Bayesian Reasoning: Evidence from the Field
To apply Bayes Rule when forming expectations agents must correctly assess the inherent “process variance” of each relevant cue, and place a larger weight on those cues with a smaller process variance. We test this notion by analysing subjective probabilities inferred from odds on the outcomes of tennis matches, exploiting natural variation in process ...

Clean Up Behind You ‐ Novel Patterning Approach for Solid Immersion Lenses
A focused ion beam (FIB) milling strategy enables rapid fabrication of solid immersion lenses (SILs) with smooth, debris‐free surfaces eliminating the need for post‐processing. The optimized pattern improves efficiency and surface quality. SILs containing NV centers are also investigated, confirming the technique's suitability for quantum and photonic ...

We present a fully automated Bayesian optimization (BO) protocol for the parameterization of nonbonded interactions in coarse‐grain CG force fields (BACH). Using experimental thermophysical data, we apply the protocol to a broad range of liquids, spanning linear, branched, and unsaturated hydrocarbons, esters, triglycerides, and water.

Electrochemical CO2RR is a key technology for converting CO2 into chemicals, but there remains a gap between “laboratory science” and “engineering practice” in current research. This review establishes a multi‐scale research framework, encompassing atomic‐level characterization, microenvironment regulation, external field‐assisted optimization, and AI ...

A diagnostic judgment of a teacher can be seen as an inference from manifest observable evidence on a student’s behavior to his or her latent traits. This can be described by a Bayesian model of inference: The teacher starts from a set of assumptions on ...

Superionic Amorphous Li2ZrCl6 and Li2HfCl6
Amorphous Li2HfCl6 and L2ZrCl6 are shown to be promising solid‐state electrolytes with predicted ionic conductivities >20 mS·cm−1. Molecular dynamics simulations with machine‐learning force fields reveal that anion vibrations and flexible MCl6 octahedra soften the Li coordination cage and enhance mobility. Correlation between Li‐ion diffusivity and the

Uncertain deduction and conditional reasoning
There has been a paradigm shift in the psychology of deductive reasoning. Many researchers no longer think it is appropriate to ask people to assume premises and decide what necessarily follows, with the results evaluated by binary extensional logic ...

A Bayesian Approach to Absent Evidence Reasoning
Under what conditions is the failure to have evidence that p evidence that p is false? Absent evidence reasoning is common in many sciences, including astronomy, archeology, biology and medicine.
