Tandem Duplication‐Driven Neofunctionalization of UDP‐Glycosyltransferases Shapes the Diversification of Triterpenoid Saponins in the Cucurbitaceae

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a chromosome‐level genome assembly of Siraitia grosvenorii and, through comparative genomics, uncover a conserved UGT73 tandem array driving triterpenoid saponin diversification in Cucurbitaceae. Crystalized SgUGT73AM30 further reveals the regioselectivity mechanism underlying its catalytic activity.

Propagation Computation for Mixed Bayesian Networks Using Minimal Strong Triangulation

open access: yesMathematics
In recent years, mixed Bayesian networks have received increasing attention across various fields for probabilistic reasoning. Though many studies have been devoted to propagation computation on strong junction trees for mixed Bayesian networks, few have

Semantic Parsing with Bayesian Tree Transducers. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Many semantic parsing models use tree transformations to map between natural language and meaning representation. However, while tree transformations are central to several state-of-the-art approaches, little use has been made of the rich literature on tree automata. This paper makes the connection concrete with a tree transducer based semantic parsing

Correcting Apparent Priming Bias Unveils Fertilizer Nitrogen‐Risk Archetypes of Surplus and Depletion Across Asian Rice Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Correcting the apparent priming effect resolves systematic biases in Asian rice fertilizer nitrogen accounting. Net soil retention drops below 7%, while 48% of fertilizer escapes, inflicting US$98.53 billion in annual reactive‐nitrogen damages. High‐resolution mapping uncovers N‐risk archetypes across 42% of the rice area, delivering a spatially ...

Cryptic genetic diversity is paramount in small-bodied amphibians of the genus Euparkerella (Anura: Craugastoridae) endemic to the Brazilian Atlantic forest.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Morphological similarity associated to restricted distributions and low dispersal abilities make the direct developing "Terrarana" frogs of the genus Euparkerella a good model for examining diversification processes.

Surviving fully Bayesian nonparametric regression models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This chapter compares two Bayesian nonparametric models that generalize the accelerated failure time model, based on recent work on probability models for predictor-dependent probability distributions.

Whole‐Genome Sequencing Pilot of the Central Asian Genomic Diversity Project Reveals Distinct Histories, Adaptation, and Introgression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
As a pilot phase of the Central Asian Genomic Diversity Project, whole‐genome sequencing of 166 individuals from 20 Central Asian and Afghan Hazara populations reveals fine‐scale substructure shaped by repeated trans‐Eurasian migration and admixture. Integrated analyses uncover post‐admixture adaptation, archaic introgression, and medically relevant ...

Harnessing Large‐Scale Multi‐Omics Data for Risk Prediction and Deep Phenotyping of Valvular Heart Diseases in the General Population

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Large‐scale UK Biobank analyses identify clinical and proteomic signatures for early prediction of valvular heart disease and its subtypes. Proteins add predictive value for VHD, AVS, and MVR, with outcome‐specific compact panels showing translational potential. Multi‐layer evidence highlights matrix remodeling, protease regulation, immune inflammation,

Calcineurin‐Dependent Stress Adaptation Enables Caspofungin Heteroresistance Leading to Stable Resistance in Candida Glabrata

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Caspofungin heteroresistance is prevalent in clinical Candida glabrata isolates and depends on calcineurin‐mediated stress adaptation. This transient phenotype serves as a reservoir for resistance evolution, enabling the emergence of stable resistant descendants under prolonged drug pressure.
