Evidence for the contribution of COMT gene Val158/108Met polymorphism (rs4680) to working memory training-related prefrontal plasticity. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
BackgroundGenetic factors have been suggested to affect the efficacy of working memory training. However, few studies have attempted to identify the relevant genes.MethodsIn this study, we first performed a randomized controlled trial (RCT) to identify ...

IL1R2 Marks and Sorts a Spermatogonial Stem Cell Population Critical for Restoring Spermatogenesis Upon Interruption in Mammals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) provide critical support to spermatogenesis. Here, the author established Il1r2 as a sorting marker for SSCs, with which further insights into the SSC heterogeneity and dynamic features can be obtained. They also confirmed findings in both mouse and human, thus validating IL1R2 as the surface marker for isolating and ...

Mycobacterium tuberculosis Genotype and Case Notification Rates, Rural Vietnam, 2003–2006

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2009
Tuberculosis case notification rates (CNRs) for young adults in Vietnam are increasing. To determine whether this finding could reflect emergence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis Beijing genotype, we studied all new sputum smear–positive pulmonary ...

Coppice potential of 16 different species of Eucalyptus after an eight-year rotation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The adoption of coppice is a commonly used management in different regions of Brazil for plantations of Eucalyptus, which requires less investments. However, there are variations in the ability of each genotype to emit sprouts, and higher yields can be ...

Molecular-genetic analysis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains spread in different patient groups in St.Petersburg (Russia) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Molecular epidemiological features of M.tuberculosis strains spread among different patient groups in Russia is not studied well. The aim of our study was to compare genotypes of M.tuberculosis strains circulating among TB patients from different groups:

EIF1AX Nucleolar Condensates Enhance Susceptibilities for the Management of Endometrial Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This schematic illustrates the mechanism of a senolytic strategy in endometrial cancer. EIF1AX facilitates the incorporation of DDX21 into nucleolar condensates, an event that suppresses rDNA transcription and induces cellular senescence. The compound 2,5‐MeC exploits this pathway by promoting EIF1AX nucleolar translocation and condensate formation ...

Baseline predictors of sputum culture conversion in pulmonary tuberculosis: importance of cavities, smoking, time to detection and W-Beijing genotype.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
BackgroundTime to detection (TTD) on automated liquid mycobacterial cultures is an emerging biomarker of tuberculosis outcomes. The M. tuberculosis W-Beijing genotype is spreading globally, indicating a selective advantage.

High Genetic Diversity and Low Differentiation of Michelia coriacea (Magnoliaceae), a Critically Endangered Endemic in Southeast Yunnan, China [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Michelia coriacea, a critically endangered tree, has a restricted and fragmented distribution in Southeast Yunnan Province, China. The genetic diversity, genetic structure and gene flow in the three extant populations of this species were detected by 10 ...

Annexin A13 Protects Against Acute Kidney Injury by Inactivating TGF‐β/Smad3 Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ANXA13 is negatively regulated by Smad3 and exerts its protective role in AKI by inactivating TGF‐β/Smad3 signaling and Smad3‐p21 cell cycle arrest pathway through binding to TβRI, inhibiting the interaction between TβRI and TβRII, thereby suppressing TβRI phosporylation.
