A Study on Main and Lateral Bending Angles in Laser Tube Bending Process
2021Laser bending process of a circular tube made of mild steel was investigated with experimental tests and finite element simulations. The effects of main process parameters such as laser output power, laser scanning speed, and laser beam diameter on the main and lateral bending angles of laser-bent tube were studied.

Critical Angles in Bending of Rotationally Inhomogeneous Elastic Wedges
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1995An anisotropic rotationally inhomogeneous wedge bent by either a concentrated couple applied at the tip (Carothers problem) or uniform surface loadings (Levy problem) is considered. The existence criteria for homogeneous solutions describing stresses and strains in both problems are established. In the Levy problem there are two types of critical wedge

Transformation optofluidics for large-angle light bending and tuning
Lab on a Chip, 2012Transformation optics is a new art of light bending by designing materials with spatially variable parameters for developing wave-manipulation devices. Here, we introduce a transformation optofluidic Y-branch splitter with large-angle bending and tuning based on the design of a spatially variable index.

Going round the bend: Persistent personal biases in walked angles
Neuroscience Letters, 2016For navigation through our environment, we can rely on information from various modalities, such as vision and audition. This information enables us for example to estimate our position relative to the starting position, or to integrate velocity and acceleration signals from the vestibular organ and proprioception to estimate the displacement due to ...

Materials & Design, 2010
Abstract The significant springback after the numerically controlled (NC) bending of a titanium alloy tube has an important influence on the precision of the shape and size of the bent tube. This springback depends on the material properties of the tube, the bending angle, and especially their coupling effects.

Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, 2013
This paper presents the development of predictive models for bend force and final bend angle (after springback) in air bending of electrogalvanized steel sheet employing response surface methodology. The models are developed based on five-level half factorial central composite design of experiments with strain hardening exponent, coating thickness, die

SOUND ATTENUATION CHARACTERISTICS OF RIGHT-ANGLE PIPE BENDS
Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1999The numerical solution of the interior surface Helmholtz integral equation for toroidal pipes is presented. Acoustic surface pressures of various pipes in the shape of a quarter torus were calculated. Sound attenuation spectra of pipes possessing different bend sharpnesses are presented.

Innovative Formulation for the Bending of Plates with Reentrant Angles
Journal of Engineering MechanicsVery recently, an innovative mesh-free method, the so-called line element-less method (LEM), has been proposed to determine the response of plates under uniformly distributed edge moments. However, the previous formulations do not solve the problem related to plates with reentrant angles.
